Regis is a non-romanceable NPC and longtime resident of Starsand Island. He serves as a guiding figure for the island community: steady, deliberate, and deeply committed to making sure the island thrives and its people are happy. While he cannot be romanced, you can still build a friendship with him by giving gifts and talking to him daily.

Full Name | Regis |
Gender | Male |

Personality | Steady, deliberate, responsible, open-minded |
Regis is a man of routine and responsibility. He rises early and stays late, having walked every path on the island multiple times over. He values tradition but remains open to the future, actively listening to younger generations and adapting his approach based on what he learns. His philosophy is straightforward: make sure the island thrives and its people are happy.
He has thoroughly explored every corner of the island over his years as a resident, making him a knowledgeable source of information about the island's geography and history. His steady presence and sense of duty make him a stabilizing force in the community.
Each NPC in Starsand Island can receive one gift per day. Giving a favorite gift earns 15 Affection Points, a liked gift earns 10 points, and a neutral gift earns 5 points. Disliked and hated gifts earn no points or may reduce affection. Regis has an extensive list of loved items, heavily favoring cooked meals and prepared dishes.
Regis loves a wide range of cooked dishes and prepared foods. His favorites include:
Gift | How to Obtain |
|---|---|
Chilled Twilight Salad | Cooking (uses Twilight Succulent and other ingredients) |
Grilled Mushrooms | Cooking (uses Mirthshroom or other mushrooms) |
Lamb Skewers | Cooking |
Baked Potato | Cooking (uses Potato) |
Plain Noodles | Cooking (uses Wheat Flour) |
Mountain & Sea Skewers | Cooking |
Grilled Chicken Wings | Cooking (uses Chicken from Coop) |
Berry Daifuku | Cooking |
Braised Crab Pot | Cooking |
Forest Treasure Bowl | Cooking |
Fish Head Tofu Soup | Cooking |
Plain Noodles is one of the easiest favorites to prepare. It requires Wheat processed into flour, a recipe available early in the game. Stock up on Wheat from your farm and process it at the Chopper to always have noodles ready for daily gifting. According to the community wiki, Regis has over 100 loved items, with most cooked dishes and many furniture pieces qualifying as favorites.
Gift | Category |
|---|---|
Moonflower | Flower (universal favorite for most NPCs) |

Moonflower is a safe fallback gift. Almost every NPC on the island likes or loves Moonflower, and Regis is no exception. If you do not have a cooked dish ready, a Moonflower is your next best option.
Gift | Notes |
|---|---|
Moorish Idol | Fish species |
Copper | Ore |
Gift | Notes |
|---|---|
Glazed Cicada | Bug item (most NPCs dislike this) |
Red Firefly | Bug item |
Veggie Bait | Fishing bait (crafted at Chopper) |
Velvet | Fabric (produced at Loom) |
Avoid giving Regis any bugs, fishing bait, or raw ores. These are common items that players might try to gift, but they consistently produce negative reactions. Gift preference data varies between guide sources and may shift between patches during Early Access; always check in-game reactions to confirm.
Friendship with non-romanceable NPCs works on the same Heart Level system as romanceable characters, though the maximum relationship level and available milestones differ. You cannot reach cohabitation (Heart Level 5) with non-romanceable NPCs, but you can still unlock new dialogue, interactions, and occasional gifts from them as your friendship grows.
Heart Level | Affection Points | Unlock |
|---|---|---|
1 Heart | 90 AP | Regis may begin sending you small gifts through the mail |
2 Hearts | 220 AP | Can take group photos together at the photo booth near the plaza |
3 Hearts | 370 AP | Access to Regis's private room and its treasure chest |
4 Hearts | Varies | Character-specific requests appear on the Bulletin Board |
5 Hearts | Varies | Can invite Regis to live on your farm and help with daily chores |
The most efficient daily routine for building friendship with Regis is:
Talk to him once per day (+5 Affection)
Give him a favorite gift like Plain Noodles or Baked Potato (+15 Affection)
Complete any Bulletin Board requests he may post (+15 to +30 Affection)
At +20 points per day from talking and gifting alone, you can reach Heart Level 3 (370 points) in about 19 days. Completing his Bulletin Board requests speeds this up considerably.
Regis's birthday is on Month 2, Day 27. Giving a gift on an NPC's birthday earns bonus Affection Points, making it an excellent opportunity to boost your friendship level. Prepare a favorite cooked dish like Chilled Twilight Salad or Plain Noodles for maximum effect.
As of the current Early Access version, Starsand Island does not include scripted heart events for any characters. There are no special cutscenes or unique story events triggered by reaching specific heart levels with Regis. The developers may add heart events in future updates as part of the NPC Dating System work planned for April 2026. For now, friendship progression focuses on the mechanical rewards listed in the table above.
Regis is one of 13 non-romanceable characters on Starsand Island, alongside Bruce, Charlene, Fang, Garrick, Ginger, Gust, Hattie, Marston, Matilda, Momo, Nia, and Sagewood.
His gift preferences lean heavily toward cooked food, making him one of the best NPCs to befriend if you enjoy the cooking system. He has over 100 loved items according to community data.
Like most NPCs, Regis hates Glazed Cicada. This bug item is almost universally disliked across the island.
As a guiding figure for the community, Regis has explored every path on the island and maintains a demanding personal schedule, rising early and staying late.
