Senior Life Stage
April 10, 2026 at 05:47 AM
Full article covering senior life stage duration (up to 35 days), retirement, pension (planned), natural death probability, ghost gameplay, physical aging changes, and tips
The Senior life stage is the final stage of a Zoi's natural life in inZOI. Lasting up to 35 in-game days, it is the longest potential life stage in the game. Seniors face retirement from their careers, the increasing possibility of natural death, and physical changes to their appearance. Despite these challenges, they can still enjoy a rich daily life full of hobbies, relationships, and meaningful activities.
After death, a Zoi enters a brief ghost phase lasting 3 in-game days, during which they can interact with the living world one final time before ascending or attending a funeral.
The Senior stage can last up to 35 in-game days, making it the longest single life stage by a wide margin. However, unlike earlier stages where aging up is guaranteed, Seniors face the possibility of natural death at any time.
The probability of dying from natural causes increases as the Senior stage progresses. A Zoi in their first few days as a Senior has a very low chance of passing, while a Zoi approaching the 35-day limit faces a much higher probability. This system creates a natural sense of aging without a fixed death timer.
Job retirement occurs at the Senior stage. Zois who held careers during their working years automatically retire when they enter this life stage. Retired Zois no longer have work obligations, freeing up their entire day for leisure, hobbies, and family time.
A pension system is planned for the April 2026 update, which would provide retired Zois with a regular income based on their career history. Until that feature arrives, Seniors need to rely on savings, business income, or household members for financial support.
Aging is visible on Senior Zois. Physical appearance changes include:
Wrinkles and skin texture changes on the face and hands
Potential graying or whitening of hair color
Slight changes to height and posture
Reduced physical energy compared to younger life stages
These changes are cosmetic and happen gradually. They do not prevent Seniors from participating in any activities, though skill progression may be somewhat slower than during younger stages.
Seniors retain access to nearly all activities available in the game. Without work obligations, they have the freedom to focus on what matters most to them:
Maintain and deepen relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners
Manage existing businesses (business ownership does not expire with retirement)
Spend time with grandchildren and younger household members
Enjoy hobbies and leisure activities around the home and at community lots
Fulfill their Ambitions and Desired Life goals
The eight needs (Hunger, Hygiene, Sleep, Bathroom, Fun, Social, Recognition, and Energy) remain active and must be managed throughout the Senior stage.
When a Senior Zoi dies from natural causes, they do not simply disappear. Instead, the Zoi becomes a ghost for 3 in-game days. During this ghost phase, the deceased Zoi can:
Wander around their home lot and visit community spaces
Interact with living Zois (though interactions are limited)
Observe the household continuing without them
After the 3-day ghost period, the Zoi either ascends or attends a funeral ceremony, marking their permanent departure from the game world. Other household members may experience mourning and sadness for a period after the funeral.
Build up savings before reaching the Senior stage. Without a pension (until the April 2026 update), financial security depends on prior planning.
Use the freed-up time from retirement to max out skills you never finished leveling.
Spend quality time with family members. The relationships and memories created during the Senior stage add emotional depth to the gameplay experience.
If your Senior Zoi owns a business, consider training a younger household member to take over management before the Zoi passes.
The up-to-35-day duration means Seniors have plenty of time, but natural death is unpredictable. Do not put off important goals.
Embrace the ghost phase when it comes. The 3-day window gives closure to the Zoi's story and allows for final goodbyes.
