Performance Skill

Performance is one of the 13 skills in inZOI, covering all forms of live entertainment — singing, stand-up comedy, and witty conversation. The skill is available from Teenager through Elder age groups and maxes out at level 10. It is separate from the Instrument skill, which governs playing physical instruments and composing music, though the two complement each other well for Zois pursuing an entertainment-focused lifestyle.
The in-game description reads: "This skill allows participation in various stage activities. It improves through singing, practicing stand-up comedy, or having humorous conversations." At higher levels, Performance unlocks access to comedy club performances, singing competitions, and the ability to earn Meow from impressed audiences.
There are several methods for raising Performance, and the most effective ones involve active practice rather than passive activities.
The fastest way to level Performance is singing using a microphone at home. You can purchase a standalone microphone through Build Mode under the Hobbies category. Once placed, click on it and select the singing option. Your Zoi will practice scales, belting, and various vocal exercises. Singing sessions can last as long as you want — there's no cooldown — so a Zoi can grind Performance fairly quickly by singing for several in-game hours at a stretch.
If you don't want to invest in a home microphone, head to the Coin Booth Karaoke in Dowon. This is a public karaoke venue where your Zoi can rent a private booth and sing alone or invite friends to join. Singing at the Coin Booth levels Performance at a comparable rate to home practice, with the added benefit of social interaction — other Zois in the booth may react positively, building relationship alongside skill.
Karaoke is also available at certain bars and entertainment lots scattered around the city. Look for the microphone icon on the city map to find locations that support singing.
Comedy is the other major branch of Performance. To get started, have your Zoi browse humor sites on a computer by clicking the computer and selecting the Skill Action option. This "humor research" step builds foundational knowledge that your Zoi draws on during live comedy.
After researching, your Zoi can perform stand-up comedy or participate in entertaining, humorous conversations with other Zois to make them laugh. Both activities raise Performance. Stand-up comedy at higher skill levels becomes noticeably more effective, as the Zoi's jokes land better and draw bigger reactions from the audience.
A more passive and cost-effective approach involves reading books about the performing arts. This is ideal for Zois who prefer a quieter lifestyle or don't have access to a microphone early in the game. The skill gain is slower than active practice but requires no equipment investment beyond purchasing the book.
Watching Music Broadcasts on TV (found under the Entertainment Programs category) provides a small supplementary boost to Performance. This is not a primary training method but can be useful as a background activity while waiting for other needs to recover.
If your Zoi is employed as a Rookie, Junior, or Senior Idol at Adam Entertainment in Dowon, vocal practice is part of the daily work tasks. Performance increases passively during the work shift, making the Idol career one of the few ways to earn money and level the skill simultaneously. See the Idol Career section below for details.
Performance follows a standard 1–10 progression with increasing benefits at each tier:
Levels 1–3: Basic singing and comedy practice. Your Zoi's performances are rough and audiences react mildly. Humor research on the computer becomes available.
Levels 4–6: Improved vocal range and comedic timing. Conversations with other Zois become funnier and more engaging. Busking starts to earn meaningful tips.
Levels 7–9: Advanced performances that consistently impress audiences. Stand-up routines become polished. Your Zoi can sign up for scheduled events like comedy club nights and singing competitions.
Level 10: Mastery. At maximum Performance, your Zoi has access to the full range of comedy club performances and singing competitions. These are scheduled through the computer and function as "rabbit hole" events — your Zoi departs via taxi and returns after the event concludes.
Busking allows a Zoi to perform in public spaces and earn Meow from passersby. To busk effectively:
Find a crowded public lot — parks, cafes, beaches, and plazas work well. The more foot traffic, the more tips you earn.
Look for lots with a microphone or instruments already set up. Some public spaces have built-in performance areas.
Higher Performance skill levels mean better tips per audience member.
Playing instruments while busking uses the Instrument skill rather than Performance, but both contribute to the entertainment value passersby experience.
Note that busking income has been reported as inconsistent by some players — large crowds can generate decent Meow, but quiet lots may produce very little. The best strategy is to busk during peak hours in high-traffic areas. Performance busking (singing) and Instrument busking (playing guitar, etc.) are tracked separately, so a Zoi who does both can maximize their earning window.
The main performance venues in the game include:
Coin Booth Karaoke (Dowon) — the go-to karaoke bar with private booths for solo or group singing sessions.
Bars and lounges — some lots in Dowon and Bliss Bay have open-mic setups or karaoke machines where Zois can perform.
Public parks and plazas — ideal for busking. These lots often have natural foot traffic and may include microphone stands or benches where audiences gather.
Beach areas — Bliss Bay's beachfront draws crowds during warm weather, making it a good busking spot.
Home — for private practice with a purchased microphone. No audience, but fast skill gains.
Performance is directly tied to the Idol Trainee career at Adam Entertainment in Dowon. This career has three tiers:
Rookie Idol — entry level. Tasks include vocal practice, dance rehearsals, and styling sessions.
Junior Idol — intermediate level with expanded responsibilities and performance opportunities.
Senior Idol — the highest tier, where your Zoi is an established performer.
To join, your Zoi must be a Young Adult and live in Dowon City. Navigate to Adam Entertainment and select the Rookie Trainee position. The work schedule is 5 days per week, 9 AM to 6 PM, but completing all daily tasks early allows you to leave before the shift ends while still receiving full pay.
Vocal practice tasks during the Idol workday raise the Performance skill passively, even though the skill increase is not always explicitly displayed in the UI. This makes the Idol career a natural fit for Zois who want to earn income while building their Performance level.
Performance works alongside several other skills:
Instrument — while Performance covers singing and comedy, Instrument covers playing physical instruments. A Zoi pursuing music should develop both. Busking uses the relevant skill depending on whether you're singing or playing an instrument.
Fitness — dance-related content in the Idol career benefits from general fitness levels.
Social skills — the humor and conversation aspects of Performance improve a Zoi's ability to entertain in social settings, which indirectly helps build friendships and romantic relationships.
The Q2 2026 roadmap includes expanded K-pop performance content with new stages, idol styling options, and choreographed dance motions, which will further strengthen the connections between Performance, Instrument, and the Idol career path. See the 2026 Roadmap for details.
