InZOI features one of the most detailed face customization systems ever seen in a life simulation game. As part of the Create a Zoi character creation tool, the face editor gives players granular control over virtually every facial feature, from the curve of the jawline to the spacing between the eyes. With over 250 total customization options across all character creation features, facial sculpting alone accounts for a significant portion of that depth.
The system is designed to let players create realistic human faces, stylized characters, or even faithful recreations of real people. Whether you prefer starting from a preset template or building a face from scratch slider by slider, the tools accommodate both approaches.
The core of face customization is the sculpting interface. Players manipulate individual facial features through a set of intuitive sliders and drag controls. Each region of the face can be adjusted independently, allowing for highly specific results.
Adjustable facial regions include:
Eyes : Size, spacing, tilt, depth, eyelid shape, and inner/outer corner position
Nose : Bridge width, tip shape, nostril flare, overall length, and vertical position
Mouth : Lip thickness (upper and lower separately), width, curvature, and corner angle
Jaw : Width, angle, definition, and overall shape from pointed to square
Cheekbones : Height, prominence, and width
Forehead : Height, slope, and width
Chin : Length, width, protrusion, and cleft depth
Ears : Size, angle, lobe shape, and vertical placement
Each feature exposes multiple sliders controlling size, position, shape, and angle. This means a single feature like the nose might have eight or more individual parameters. The result is a face editor where no two player-created Zois need to look alike.
Beyond bone structure, the face editor provides comprehensive skin customization. Players select from a wide range of natural skin tones using a color picker that supports subtle warm and cool undertones. Skin texture details add further realism to each face.
Available skin details:
Wrinkles with adjustable depth and placement, useful for aging characters naturally
Freckle patterns that can be customized in density and spread across the cheeks and nose
Moles that can be placed precisely on the face with control over size
Blemishes and skin imperfections for added realism
Skin shine and matte adjustments for different skin texture appearances
These details layer on top of the base skin tone, so players can build up a natural, lived-in look rather than the overly smooth appearance common in other character creators.
One of the standout features of InZOI's face customization is real-time facial motion capture. Using Epic Games' MetaHuman "Live Link Face" app (available on iOS), players can scan their own face with a smartphone camera and map the result directly onto their Zoi. The app tracks facial landmarks and translates them into the game's sculpting parameters.
This feature makes it straightforward to create a Zoi that closely resembles the player or another real person. After the initial scan, players can fine-tune individual sliders to correct any areas where the automatic mapping did not perfectly capture their features.
For players who prefer not to start from a blank slate, the face editor includes a library of preset face templates. These presets cover a range of ethnicities, age groups, and facial structures. Selecting a preset populates all facial sliders with a coherent starting point, which can then be modified freely.
Presets are especially helpful for new players who are still learning how the sliders interact with one another. Starting from a well-balanced template and making incremental adjustments is often faster than sculpting every parameter from zero.
Completed faces (and full character designs) can be uploaded to Canvas, InZOI's community sharing platform. Other players can browse, download, and use shared faces as starting points for their own characters. Canvas supports searching by tags, popularity, and recency, making it easy to find high-quality community creations.
As of v0.7.0, the InZOI ModKit supports custom face mods. Modders can create and distribute entirely new face presets, skin textures, and facial feature options beyond what the base game provides. This opens the door to even more diverse character creation possibilities.
Use the rotation tool to check your face from multiple angles; a face that looks good head-on may have an unusual profile.
Save multiple face presets before committing so you can compare options side by side.
The motion capture scan works best in well-lit environments with the camera at eye level.
Browse Canvas for inspiration before starting your own face from scratch.
Combine face customization with Makeup and Hair Styles to complete the overall look of your Zoi.
