Bar Business
March 31, 2026 at 06:14 PM
Initial version
The bar is one of nine business types available in inZOI. It is a beverage-focused establishment where your Zoi serves mixed drinks, cocktails, and juices to visiting customers. Bars were introduced in the v0.5.0 update (December 2025) alongside the Drink Mixing skill and the broader business ownership system. Unlike cafes and restaurants that rely on direct product sales, bars operate on a dual revenue model: customers pay a one-time entry fee when they arrive and then place individual drink orders during their visit.
When you select the Bar preset during business registration, the game automatically configures customer activities around ordering and consuming drinks. The bar preset is designed for evening and nighttime operations, making it a natural fit for players who want to build a nightlife venue. Two closely related presets, the Lounge and the Club, share the same core mechanics but differ in atmosphere and customer expectations. This guide focuses on the bar preset specifically, though much of the advice applies to lounges and clubs as well.
Setting up a bar follows the same general process as any business in inZOI. You need to purchase a commercial property, register it through the Business App, furnish the space with the right equipment, and then open for service.
Open the Edit City window and look for lots marked as "Business Property" in their description. Purchase one of these lots to serve as your bar's location. Property prices vary depending on the city and lot size, ranging from roughly 20,000 to over 100,000 Meow. Both Dowon and Bliss Bay have commercial properties available for purchase. High-traffic areas tend to attract more customers, so choosing a central location or a popular neighborhood can give your bar a head start.
After purchasing the property, open the Business App on your Zoi's phone (press P) and register the property. This opens the Business Settings window where you configure the following:
Business Name: Choose a name for your bar.
Business Type: Select the "Bar" preset from the Business Type tab. This automatically sets customer activities to include ordering and consuming drinks. You can also choose the Lounge or Club preset if you prefer a different atmosphere.
Recipes: In the Recipe tab, select which drinks your bar will serve. The available recipes depend on your Zoi's Drink Mixing skill level.
Business Hours: Set your operating hours in the Business Hours tab. Bars perform best during evening and nighttime hours. A schedule from around 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM works well, though you can adjust this to suit your playstyle.
Player Settings: In the Player Settings tab, make sure "Order" is listed under customer activities. This is what allows visiting Zois to purchase drinks at your bar.
Enter Edit Property mode (Build Mode) and furnish your bar with the essential equipment listed in the section below. Use the search bar to find specific items like "kiosk" or "dispenser" quickly. The layout of your space directly affects customer satisfaction and employee efficiency. Customers should be able to enter, order at the kiosk, find a seat, and leave without getting stuck on obstacles.
Once your equipment is placed and your settings are configured, open the Business App and start your first business day. You can run the bar solo at first, handling drink preparation and customer service yourself. As revenue grows, hire employees to help manage the workload.
A functioning bar needs specific furniture and appliances. Without the core items listed below, your bar will not operate properly.
Equipment | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Beverage Dispensing Machine | Primary station for preparing mixed drinks and cocktails | The commercial version of the home Drink Dispenser. Employees can be assigned to operate it. Essential for any bar, lounge, or club. |
Kiosk | Point-of-sale terminal where customers pay entry fees and place orders | Place at least one near the entrance or counter area. Every business needs a kiosk to process transactions. |
Market Stand | Displays prepared drinks and food items for sale to customers | Stock drinks on the stand before opening to reduce wait times during busy hours. Note: cocktail stocking on market stands was fixed in a February 2026 patch. |
Seating (Tables and Chairs) | Provides places for customers to sit while drinking | Essential for bars, lounges, and clubs. Without seating, customers cannot consume their orders on-site. |
Bar Counter | Provides a serving surface and contributes to the bar atmosphere | Optional but recommended. Adds to the visual identity of the space and can serve as a natural gathering point. |
You can find all of these items in Build Mode under appliances and furniture sections. The Beverage Dispensing Machine is the most important piece of equipment. It replaced the bar table for drink preparation following the v0.5.4 hotfix (January 2026). Without it, your Zoi and employees cannot prepare drinks for customers.
The Drink Mixing skill is the core skill for running a bar. It determines which drink recipes your Zoi can prepare and directly affects the quality and value of the beverages you serve. Drink Mixing was introduced in the same v0.5.0 update as the business system, and the two features are designed to work together.
The available drinks your bar can sell depend on your Zoi's Drink Mixing level. As the skill increases, more complex and valuable recipes unlock. Some alcoholic cocktails are restricted to adult Zois (Young Adults and older), while non-alcoholic beverages like fruit juices are available to Teenagers as well.
Skill Level | Available Drinks | Business Impact |
|---|---|---|
Level 1 | Basic fruit juices and simple drinks | Limited menu; low revenue per drink |
Level 3 | Mixed drinks and mocktails | Broader menu; moderate customer satisfaction |
Level 5 | Complex cocktails and specialty beverages | Full cocktail menu unlocked; significant revenue increase |
Level 7 | Advanced cocktails with higher quality | Better drink quality boosts customer satisfaction and tips |
Level 10 | Master-tier recipes | Highest sale value; best possible profit margins |
Building your Drink Mixing skill to at least Level 5 before opening a bar is strongly recommended. At that level, you gain access to the full cocktail menu, which includes the drinks that generate the best profit margins. You can practice at home by placing a Drink Dispenser (the residential version of the Beverage Dispensing Machine) and mixing drinks repeatedly. This avoids the overhead costs of running a business while you develop the skill.
Bars primarily sell beverages prepared through the Drink Mixing skill. The drinks fall into three broad categories, each with different production costs.
Category | Examples | Production Cost |
|---|---|---|
Fruit Juices | Simple non-alcoholic drinks available from Level 1 | 9 Meow per drink |
Mixed Drinks and Mocktails | Non-alcoholic blends and flavored combinations from Level 3 | 9 Meow per drink |
Cocktails | Alcoholic and specialty beverages from Level 5 and above | 13 Meow per drink |
In addition to drinks, bars can also sell food items if you equip a Cooking station or an oven. Adding food to your menu increases the average revenue per customer visit. Group-sized meal batches prepared through the Cooking skill are particularly profitable, selling for roughly ten times their production cost.
Bar revenue comes from two sources: the one-time entry fee customers pay when they walk in, and the individual drink orders they place during their visit.
Revenue Source | Details |
|---|---|
Entry Fee | Every customer who enters your bar pays this fee. The default starting fee is 10 Meow, and it can be adjusted through the Business App. |
Drink Orders | Customers order drinks from the menu during their visit. Each drink sold contributes additional revenue beyond the entry fee. |
Food Sales (Optional) | If your bar also sells food, customers can purchase meals, adding another income stream. |
At the end of each business day, the game tallies up all revenue from entry fees and sales, subtracts employee salaries and the daily operating fee, and deposits the net profit into your Zoi's account. The daily operating fee increases as your business level rises, so profits need to scale alongside it.
Understanding the relationship between production costs and revenue is critical for bar profitability. Lower-level drinks cost 9 Meow to produce, while the base entry fee is only 10 Meow. This means that a bar serving only basic drinks can operate at very thin margins or even a loss when factoring in employee wages and daily fees. Higher-level cocktails at 13 Meow per drink carry greater production costs, but they sell for proportionally more and attract customers willing to pay higher prices.
Active management makes a significant difference. Players have reported that visiting your bar in person can triple daily earnings compared to leaving it unattended with employees. Your Zoi's physical presence boosts customer traffic and the quality of service.
You can start your bar as a solo operation, but hiring employees allows the business to serve more customers and continue operating when your Zoi is away. Employees are hired through the Business App, where you negotiate a daily salary with each candidate.
For a bar, the most important employee skill is Drink Mixing. Employees with higher Drink Mixing skill produce drinks faster and at better quality, which increases customer satisfaction. When hiring, look for candidates whose skills align with your bar's needs.
Consideration | Details |
|---|---|
Starting Solo | Run the bar yourself initially to learn the mechanics and avoid salary costs during the early, low-revenue phase. |
When to Hire | Hire once revenue consistently covers daily costs plus employee salaries. Hiring too early can cause losses. |
Skill Matching | Assign employees with high Drink Mixing skill to the Beverage Dispensing Machine. This is their primary task. |
Salary Negotiation | Offer competitive pay based on skill level. Higher-skilled workers expect more but produce better results. |
Scheduling | Match employee shifts to your operating hours. Bars need coverage during evening and late-night slots. |
Autonomous Operation | With employees, the bar can serve customers when your Zoi is away, though revenue drops without your presence. |
Bars are naturally suited to the nightlife scene in inZOI. Unlike cafes that thrive during daytime hours, bars attract the most customers during the evening and night. Setting your operating hours to cover the late afternoon through the early morning hours maximizes foot traffic.
A recommended schedule for most bars runs from around 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM, though you can experiment with different hours based on your location and customer patterns. If you run a lounge, consider extending daytime hours as well, since lounges can attract afternoon visitors looking for a relaxed drink. Clubs typically perform best with late-night hours, drawing crowds after 9:00 PM.
The game's pre-built nightlife venues provide a good reference point for scheduling and layout. Locations like the Neon Tides Nightclub feature dance floors, bar areas, and DJ setups that keep customers engaged throughout the night. While your own bar does not need to be that elaborate, observing how community lots schedule their nighttime activities can help you plan your own operating hours.
Three business presets in inZOI use the Drink Mixing skill as their primary service. While they share core mechanics, each has a different atmosphere and customer expectation.
Preset | Atmosphere | Best Hours | Key Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
Bar | Casual drinks venue | Evening to late night | Straightforward setup; good balance of entry fees and drink orders |
Lounge | Upscale, relaxed ambiance | Afternoon through evening | Higher customer expectations for quality; attracts daytime visitors too |
Club | High-energy nightlife venue with music and social interaction | Late night | Highest foot traffic during peak hours; strongest nightlife connection |
All three use the same entry fee plus drink orders revenue model. Bars are the most straightforward option for players new to beverage businesses, since they have lower customer expectations than lounges and a simpler atmosphere than clubs. The v0.7.0 anniversary update (March 2026) added VIP lounges to several pre-built properties in Dowon, Bliss Bay, and Cahaya, expanding the nightlife venues where Drink Mixing plays a central role.
inZOI offers nine business types, each with different strengths and challenges. The following table compares the bar to other major options.
Business Type | Revenue Model | Key Advantage | Key Challenge |
|---|---|---|---|
Bar | Entry fee + drink orders | Dual revenue streams; strong nightlife appeal | Requires Drink Mixing skill investment; thin margins at low skill levels |
Cafe | Direct product sales | Low setup cost; versatile menu (Coffee Craft + food + baked goods) | Requires investment in multiple skills (Coffee Craft, Cooking, Baking) |
Restaurant | Direct product sales | High-value individual items from advanced Cooking recipes | Heavy reliance on Cooking skill; complex recipe management |
Gym | Entrance fee + paid lectures | Highest consistent income; zero crafting ingredient costs | Less creative gameplay; revenue comes from fees and lectures, not products |
Bakery | Direct product sales | Simpler pipeline focused on Baking skill | Narrower menu variety; limited upselling opportunities |
Florist Shop | Direct product sales | Low ongoing material costs | Limited customer base compared to food and drink businesses |
Gyms consistently rank as the highest-earning business type because they rely on entrance fees and paid lectures with no ingredient costs. Well-managed bars with high Drink Mixing skill and a full cocktail menu can compete in revenue once the business is established, but expect lower returns during the early days. The bar's advantage over cafes and restaurants is the entry fee model: every customer who walks in generates guaranteed income regardless of what they order.
The bar business system has had several reported issues since its introduction. The development team has addressed most of them through hotfixes.
Issue | Description | Status |
|---|---|---|
Employees discarding drinks | Employees sometimes mix a drink and then throw it in the trash instead of serving it to customers. | Partially addressed in hotfixes; micromanaging employees after they finish mixing is a common workaround |
Market stand stocking | Mixed drinks could not be placed on market stands for resale, unlike food items. | Fixed in February 2026 patch |
Autonomous stocking | Employees failed to restock market stands with drinks on their own. | Fixed in February 2026 patch |
Customer ordering behavior | NPC customers at some venues did not autonomously order drinks, reducing revenue. | Under investigation |
Check the Update History for the latest patch notes and fixes related to the bar business and Drink Mixing systems.
Build your Drink Mixing skill to at least Level 5 before opening a bar. A home Drink Dispenser lets you practice without the overhead costs of running a business.
Set your operating hours to evening and night for the best customer traffic. A schedule of roughly 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM covers peak demand.
Be present at your bar during business hours whenever possible. Active management can triple daily earnings compared to leaving employees to run the place alone.
Start solo before hiring employees. Learn the mechanics and build up a revenue cushion before taking on salary costs.
Keep at least 5,000 Meow in reserve after opening. The first few days may run at a loss while your customer base grows.
Stock drinks on market stands before opening to reduce customer wait times during busy periods.
Add food to your menu if possible. A Cooking station or oven lets you serve meals alongside drinks, increasing revenue per customer visit.
Combine Drink Mixing with Coffee Craft to create a hybrid bar/cafe that serves customers throughout the day and into the night.
If employees keep discarding freshly made drinks, click on them after they finish mixing to manually direct them to place the drink down. This workaround prevents the autonomous discard behavior.
Choose a high-traffic location for your bar. Dowon's central business district and Bliss Bay's beachside areas tend to draw more customers than quieter neighborhoods.
Adjust your entry fee and drink prices gradually based on daily customer reviews. Raising prices too sharply drives customers away, but underpricing cuts into your margins.
Consider working toward the Drink Mixing Master ambition for Meow rewards and exclusive bartending interactions that boost customer satisfaction at your bar.
