Major update with detailed mentor info, progression tiers, skill upgrades, and recommended progression order from post-release info
Starsand Island has five professions, each with a dedicated mentor NPC. Each profession progresses through five tiers: Apprentice, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, and Expert. You advance by completing profession-specific trials (certifications) given by your mentor. When you earn a certification, return to Solara at the Community Center to claim a recruitment bonus.
Location: General Store. The foundation of everything else. Crafting lets you make tools, furniture, stations, animal housing, and vehicles. Becoming an Apprentice Crafter gives you a free skateboard. Every other profession depends on crafted items, so this is the recommended first pick.
Location: Happiness Seed Shop. Covers farming crops. Graminova teaches you to till, plant, water, and harvest. Higher tiers unlock new seed varieties and better tool blueprints.
Location: AquaBlue Outpost / Tidal Dive Shop. Covers fishing. Francis gives you your first rod and teaches the basics. Higher tiers unlock access to new fishing grounds and better rods.
Location: Green Pasture Ranch (northwest of your house). Covers animals. Pastelle sells livestock and teaches care. Least essential early on, but becomes valuable once you need animal products and mounts at higher tiers.
Location: Exploration Club near the archery targets. Covers combat, mining, and the Moonlit Forest. Zephyria gives you the Slingshot blueprint. Higher tiers unlock bows, special ammo, and access to deeper forest areas.
Crafter first: Unlocks the skateboard and essential crafting stations every other profession needs.
Explorer second: Opens the Moonlit Forest for mining and new materials you can't get elsewhere.
Farmer or Angler third: Both are strong income sources. Fishing is faster money; farming is more passive.
Rancher last: Animal products aren't urgently needed early. Focus here once your farm and workshop are established.
Each profession has upgradeable skills in the Workpedia app on your phone. Spend Starsand Points to purchase perks like "Recuperate" (faster stamina recovery while sitting), "Effortless Tilling" (farming efficiency), and "Efficiency Boost" (bonus resources from crafting). Each skill has 5 levels.
