Pickpocketing lets you take items from eligible NPCs without knocking them down. Learn the skill, approach from behind, and check the ring around the interaction prompt before making an attempt.
Learn the Skill
Fingers in the Old Camp and Wedge in the New Camp teach pickpocketing. Lessons cost both Learning Points and ore nuggets.
Lesson | Learning Points | Ore Nuggets |
|---|---|---|
Trained | 10 | 80 |
Mastered | 20 | 160 |
Read the Prompt
Approach the target from behind until the pickpocket prompt appears. The default input is R on PC, Y on Xbox, or Triangle on PS5. An absent prompt means that NPC cannot be pickpocketed.
Ring | Success Chance |
|---|---|
Green | 100% |
Green-yellow | 80% |
Orange | 50% |
Red | 10% |
No color | 0% |
The eye icon warns that someone nearby can witness the theft. The chance also depends on your skill and Dexterity compared with the target's. A higher lesson improves your odds, but the ring is the immediate check for the person in front of you.
See Merchants and Trading for other ways to obtain ore and supplies without losing access to a trader.
Unlocking Fingers
Fingers offers his lessons after Diego refers you during Casting Shadows. If you want a teacher who does not need that referral, visit Wedge in the New Camp. His pickpocket lessons have the same costs: 10 LP and 80 ore for the first lesson, then 20 LP and 160 ore for the advanced lesson.
