Hero's Relics are legendary Crest-stone weapons carried by the heroes of the past, and they return in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. One is confirmed by name as of September 2026: the Answerer, the sword Dietrich carries. This page covers what the system has been shown to do in this game and stops where the published material stops.
What a Relic Is
The reveal trailer introduced the category directly, as legendary Crest-stone weapons used by the old heroes, and named the Answerer as one of them. The Japanese help text on that sword adds the part that matters mechanically: it describes a relic that can be handled by a bearer of the Bloodmark, then restricts its combat art to Dietrich alone.

So a relic is bound to a person twice over. The weapon itself sits in an inventory like any other sword, but the art it grants checks the mark its wielder carries, which is why no other unit can pick the blade up and use it. Ordinary attacks with a relic cost nothing; the art spends durability, the same rule that governs every other weapon in the game, covered on Combat Arts.
The One Confirmed Relic
Relic | Wielder | Type | Combat Art | Published Line |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Sword | Bloodletting | Rank E, range 1, 20 Uses |
Dietrich describes the sword himself as the legacy of his forebears, passed to him in Fódlan, and calls it a blade to smite the gods. In-game dialogue calls it a fell blade and ties it to House Lamine, the house he belongs to. The full stat line, the Bloodletting figures and the flavour text sit on that weapon's own page, and Weapons places it among the other swords.
The E weapon rank on that line is the odd detail. It is the lowest rung on the scale for a weapon the game presents as legendary, and it sits in pre-launch data next to an acknowledged placeholder icon, so it may not hold once the shipped version is documented.
Crests, Bloodmarks and Diadems
Crests return in this game by name. The people of Dagda have their own history with them and their own vocabulary: they call them Bloodmarks, and an individual mark a Diadem, with each Diadem associated with a member of the Dagdan Pantheon. Five Diadem names have now been published, and one of them lands on this page directly: the Lamine line carries the Diadem of the Endless, and Answerer is filed against that same line as a Hero's Relic of this game, with Dietrich of House Lamine as its listed bearer. Relic, bloodline, Diadem and wielder therefore all sit on one row. Temple service is separately reported to bestow a Diadem's effect for a time, which Temple Blessings covers.
Nothing has been published about what any Crest, Bloodmark or Diadem actually does in play. No effect table exists for this game, and none is reproduced here. Tables carrying these names elsewhere belong to other titles and describe other games' mechanics, not this one. What is established is the link between mark and relic: the Answerer's art checks for the mark, so the relic and its bearer cannot be separated.
Weapons That Are Not Relics
Several personal weapons in this game belong to legendary figures without being labelled Hero's Relics. The distinction is worth keeping, because a named weapon with a unique combat art looks like a relic and mostly is not.
Weapon | Wielder | Why It Is Listed Here |
|---|---|---|
Mahadu's Spear | A legendary figure's weapon that published material never calls a Hero's Relic. Grants Full Moon | |
The protagonist's spear, restricted to them, with no relic label | ||
Sinza's Trident | Her father's weapon, granting Brute Throw | |
Long-Night Katara | A cursed sword granting Siphon Luck |
A Relic Outside Battle
The Answerer does something on the field that no other weapon has been shown doing. It reacts to Crests around it, glowing red and flipping out the spines along its blade near objects or entities that carry Crest properties. On the world map that becomes Answerer's Cry, a Dietrich-only command that flushes out foes hidden on the field and calls up extra skirmishes, whose enemies can drop the Magic Echo Stones used to upgrade Combat Arts. On his path it is also how he tracks down the sea beast Cetus in Chapter 8, which surfaces at the Sea of Screams only after failed searches at three other spots.
One pre-launch scene puts that to use in conversation rather than combat: the sword reacts while Dietrich is speaking with the merchant Talimun, and he turns it on him. As of September 2026, no official weapon description or presentation states whether the detection is a relic property in general or specific to this sword, since it is the only relic anyone has seen.
What Has Not Been Published
As of September 2026, no relic beyond the Answerer has been named in an official presentation, press release or item listing. None of those surfaces says how relics are obtained, how many exist in this game, whether any of the other Heroes carries one, or what a relic does beyond the art it grants. Any relic roster or effect figure circulating for this game comes from another title.
