The Nameless is the spear Eshmel carries in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Its description explains the name in one line: this is a weapon that lost its original power, and lost its name along with it. No unit other than Eshmel can equip it.
Stats
Only part of the weapon line has been published ahead of launch. Might, Weight, Hit and critical rate have not been shown.
Field | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Spear |
Weapon rank | E |
Range | 1 |
Uses | 20 |
Worth | Not announced |
Restriction | Eshmel only |
As a spear it inherits the type property that replaces the old weapon triangle in this game: heavy damage against cavalry. The 20 Uses are spent only on Combat Arts, not on ordinary attacks, which is the general durability rule in this game.
The Name
The Japanese name is 無銘の槍, Mumei no yari, which reads as "uninscribed spear". The wording is doing real work: a Japanese blade or spear was traditionally engraved with an inscription when it was finished, so a weapon with no inscription is one whose maker, lineage and identity have been erased. The English name carries the same idea in fewer syllables.
In Battle
Preview footage shows Eshmel using The Nameless against the risen dead of the underworld, which fits the ruined 1454 era the story opens in. One account describes the spear pulling itself back together during a Blaze Art, reforming into the shape held by the statue of Solel that stands over the temples in the capital. That detail comes from a single preview reading of a cutscene and has not been confirmed in an official description, so treat it as provisional until the game ships.
