Buccar is a playable character in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and the veteran warrior who accompanies Leda on her journey of revenge. He is nicknamed the demon bear, and he fights for her clan, Rose Tempest, at the Heroic Games. He served her father for years before any of it, and the habit of calling her princess has stuck.

Service to Leda's House
Buccar comes from Baphos in the Kingdom of Arago, and his nickname is usually given with the place attached, as the demon bear of Baphos. He met Leda's father in Dagsion more than twenty years before the story and entered his service; the introduction, by one account, was Buccar picking a fight with him as a hot headed young man and losing it comfortably. Preview material has him getting Leda out of her home city when it burned, and he has stayed at her side since.
He still calls her princess, which is a leftover from serving her father rather than a title she holds. He values loyalty and takes real pleasure in bringing on promising young fighters. His feelings about the revenge itself are mixed: he follows her, and he wishes she were happy instead.
In Battle
Nintendo's profile describes him as a veteran guardian compared to a demon bear because he is so impervious to enemy attacks, which is the defensive role stated outright. He fights with axes, and his showcase has him carrying a Shielding Axe and triggering a skill called Guardian's Duty. His starting class is Commoner. As of September 2026, no stats have been published for him.
Recruitment
Buccar joins automatically on Leda's path. On Dietrich's and Theodora's paths he can be recruited only after clearing Leda's Paralogue, Diversionary Tactics, which Leda hands out in Temple Row between 9/2 and 9/8 on the in-game calendar; he cannot be recruited on Cai's path, which has no access to that paralogue.

Notes
Buccar is one of only two members of the cast renamed rather than transliterated for English; his Japanese name is Buccaneer, and Bonaventure is the other. The English name traces to a Scots word for a fast sailing smuggling vessel, and the nickname behind the demon bear is a Japanese term for a bear of monstrous size. As of September 2026, this wiki has not documented his age, birthday or family, and he is described throughout as Leda's retainer rather than as any relation to her.
