Bonaventure is a playable character in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and a general of the Kingdom of Saramis, where he serves as the right hand of Queen Theodora. He carries the title Mastermind of Saramis. He fights for Theodora's clan, Megaira's Beacon, at the Heroic Games. Because the use of writing is forbidden in his kingdom, he has committed its history and its accumulated wisdom to memory.

Service to Saramis
Bonaventure has held the office of Mastermind since the reign of the previous king, Sergio, which puts his service to the crown a full generation ahead of Theodora's own reign. The Japanese title behind Mastermind reads as Wise General, and the pairing is deliberate: he is the strategist at Theodora's side, while Tobias, her other veteran general, is the strength.
A story scene set in the royal capital shows him arguing the case for Theodora's claim against her older brother Dyan. His position there is that a country is its people rather than its territory, that people gather under a king they themselves crown, and that the late Sergio named Theodora his successor because he understood as much. Nintendo's own description of the scene notes that his long service is exactly what gives his words their weight.
The Unwritten History
Writing is forbidden in Saramis, and the kingdom keeps its past by oral tradition instead. That puts the whole record on individual memory, and Bonaventure is the man carrying it: official profiles introduce him as an expert on Saraminian history and folklore who has memorised the kingdom's history and its wisdom in full. He also enjoys memorising knowledge for its own sake and debating with sages, which makes the burden closer to a vocation than a duty.
In Battle
Bonaventure starts in the Noble class, the class the game gives to units born to a great house. Footage of his showcase has him fighting as a Diviner instead, the hybrid role that carries a sword in one hand and casts Reason magic with the other; he is shown with a bronze sword and a Wind spell that is effective against flying units, and he earns proficiency experience for Sword after the fight. Nintendo's profile sums him up as a wielder of blades and magic.

Bonaventure is one of only two members of the cast given a genuinely different name in English rather than a transliteration of the Japanese: his Japanese name is Bonaparte, after the French general who became emperor, and Buccar is the other. The Korean release keeps the Japanese form as Bonaparte. No age, birthday or family has been published for him.
