Castor

Castor is a character in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and the father of Cai, one of the four Heroes. The two are not the same person despite the shared name: Cai's full name is Cai Castor, and Castor is his father's given name. He was once a Vulcan of one of Dagsion's temples, and by the time the story opens he is a prisoner.

Profile

The Arrest

Castor committed major crimes before Cai was born. What they were has not been revealed, and for fifteen years no sentence was carried out. On Cai's fifteenth birthday, in the year 1449 of the Dagdan calendar, the temple knight Centurio arrives in the village of Ribeira to tell him the time has come to face punishment. Castor is taken into custody and imprisoned beneath the imperial capital.

That arrest is the hinge of Cai's whole story. He sets out for Dagsion with his childhood friends Tialla and Peter to find answers, and the three of them enter the Heroic Games because winning is the way to get his father back. Everything on the Fox route follows from it.

Father and Son

Castor trained Cai in combat himself before the arrest, which is where a fifteen-year-old villager's fighting ability comes from. Recorded dialogue also has him ask his son to look after his mother, a woman Cai grew up without and has no memories of at all. Nothing further about her has been revealed, and Castor's line is the only place she is directly addressed.

In Battle

The roster listings place Castor in the Ribeira Winds column with a guest marker, joining and leaving within the first chapter of the Fox route. Guest units fight alongside the player without being permanent members of the party, so his time on the field is short by design.

Notes

The name comes from Greek myth, where Castor is one of the twins commemorated in the constellation Gemini.
