Blaze Arts
August 20, 2026 at 03:17 AM
Created page with the gauge and burst rules, HP costs, and the per-Hero art table
Blaze Arts are the signature new system in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Nintendo's narration calls them special moves that consume your soul in exchange for power; mechanically, the price is the user's own health points. They belong to the four Heroes and to Eshmel, and every previewer who played the game before launch singled them out as the standout addition. They are separate from Combat Arts, which spend weapon durability instead.
The system got its own dedicated trailer, 54 seconds long, published on 8 August 2026 on Nintendo's British, German, French, Italian and Spanish channels, and on 11 August on the Australian channel. No North American version of that trailer was published.
Every Blaze Art costs HP, and using one fills a circular gauge attached to that unit. This is the part that is easy to get backwards: the gauge is not a resource you spend down, it is a meter that climbs as you keep using arts.
Filling the gauge partway grants that unit a substantial stat boost for the remainder of the battle. Coverage of the Japanese build names that desirable half-charged state Over Blaze. Filling the gauge entirely does the opposite: it triggers a burst that halves that unit's HP for the rest of the battle and, by one account, strips away the buffs the meter had granted. So the system rewards leaning on Blaze Arts and then punishes leaning on them too hard, which is the risk-versus-reward loop previewers kept pointing at.
Each Hero's Blaze Arts are tied to a legendary artifact, and those artifacts appear to be cursed. That reading fits the new Curse column on the Weapons stat table, which shares the Blaze Arts icon, though nothing official has spelled the connection out.
The costs, ranges and effects below are read from pre-launch footage and interface captures rather than published documentation, and several arts are known only by name so far. Values may change before release.
Art | User | HP Cost | Range | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Underworld Burst | 7 | 1 to 4 | Unleashes dark flames at range, reported to leave an Underworld Flames status on the squares it covers. Described as Cai's first art. | |
Blackfire | 11 | Not published | A cone of dark fire over a wide area, also reported to apply Underworld Flames. Described as Cai's second art. | |
Underworld Inferno | Not published | Not published | Named in pre-launch coverage as a third art, with no detail published. | |
Moving Shadow | 5 | Warp up to 3 tiles | Uses his ink-black cloak to warp him through obstacles to a spot he could not otherwise reach. He can still attack after the warp. | |
Earthen Hurl | Not published | Up to 5 tiles | Rips a chunk of rock out of the ground and hurls it at a single distant foe, using power inherited from her ancestors. | |
Earthen Throw | Not published | Not published | Listed as a second rock-throwing art. Whether it is distinct from Earthen Hurl or the same art under a second name is unclear. | |
Song of Passion | 6 | 1 to 2 | Plays her vihuela to grant allies in range Strength and Magic +4 until her next phase. | |
Song of Beasts | Not published | Not published | Summons a Demonic Beast to fight for her. Reported as once per map. | |
Song of Madness | Not published | Not published | Named with no detail published. | |
Song of Icewater | Not published | Not published | Named with no detail published. | |
Song of Abjuring | Not published | Not published | Named with no detail published. | |
Not published | 11 | Centred within 3 | Hits up to 5 targets in a cross shape and is effective against undead, which matters because the enemies of 1454 are the risen dead. | |
Shining Dragon Strike | Not published | Not published | An area attack that damages every foe in range and destroys obstacles, with the affected area widening at each tier. |
No official English name has been published for the protagonist's Blaze Art. Two candidate names circulate in pre-launch coverage, both of them fan renderings of the Japanese, so this page leaves the slot empty rather than pick one.
The protagonist's gauge is drawn differently from the Heroes': a four-pointed star ringed in gentle blue, rather than the circular meter the four Heroes carry. Full Blaze gauges have also been spotted on characters outside that group, including Talimun, Orchel and Anatolia, whose gauge matches the four-pointed-star type. Two further details rest on single hands-on accounts: Leda is said to learn additional Blaze Arts by performing in Dagsion, and Blaze Arts are said to chain when several Heroes are deployed on the same team.
Several named moves in pre-launch coverage sit in neighbouring systems and are easy to mistake for Blaze Arts. These are the ones documented so far.
