Demon Hunter is one of three classes named so far for Diablo V, and one of the two returning ones alongside the Monk. Blizzard's announcement post says the Demon Hunter "returns to stalk the forces of Hell with twin crossbows, striking from the shadows and leaping across the battlefield to annihilate their prey".
Pre-launch article. Diablo V was announced on 12 September 2026 and is scheduled for Spring 2029. As of 13 September 2026 the game has been public for one day, no playable build has been shown, and Blizzard describes it as "still early in development". No skill, resource, skill tree or number has been named for the Demon Hunter, and class mechanics were explicitly deferred to 2027.
Senior Game Director Joe Shely introduced the class on stage in the same terms:
"The Demon Hunter, of course, incredible class...so agile, leaping through the air, pinning demons against the walls. How could we not bring the Demon Hunter back?"
That announcement line and that quote are the entire public record for the class as of 13 September 2026. Three things are described, and nothing is specified:
Twin crossbows. The only weapon named, and no other armament has been mentioned.
Striking from the shadows. No stealth or concealment mechanic of any kind has been described.
Leaping across the battlefield. Shely adds "pinning demons against the walls". No movement skill has been named and no footage of the class in play has been shown.
Scope note. The Demon Hunter appeared in earlier games in the series. No resource, skill, armour set or build from those games is Diablo V information, and Blizzard has named none of them for Diablo V.

Blizzard said after the show that it is "not quite at the stage to detail individual classes and mechanics just yet", and pointed at 2027 for concrete class detail. See Development and roadmap.
