Three classes have been named for Diablo V: the returning Demon Hunter and Monk, and the all-new Plague Knight. Blizzard states that these "are only the first of the classes we'll reveal on the road to Diablo V", so the roster is known to be incomplete. Each class has its own page; this page is the roster index.
Pre-launch article. Diablo V was announced on 12 September 2026 and is scheduled for Spring 2029. As of 13 September 2026 the game has been public for one day, no playable build has been shown, and Blizzard describes it as "still early in development". No skills, skill trees, resources, numbers or progression systems have been described for any class, and class mechanics were explicitly deferred to 2027.
The three revealed classes
Class | Status | How Blizzard describes it |
|---|---|---|
Returning | Stalks the forces of Hell with twin crossbows, striking from the shadows and leaping across the battlefield. | |
Returning | Brings martial perfection back to Sanctuary, battering demons with fists and calling down holy power. | |
All-new | The embodiment of walking death. Spreads disease and pestilence, then consumes it for power. |
Class pages
Each class has a page recording the full first-party statements behind the summaries above. For the two returning classes that record is one announcement sentence and one remark from Senior Game Director Joe Shely each.
Demon Hunter. Returning. Twin crossbows, shadows and leaping mobility.
Monk. Returning. Fists in melee paired with holy power at range.
Plague Knight. All-new, and the class the team spoke about at greatest length. Shely called it "the first new class", which confirms at least one more exists without giving a number.
How many classes
Blizzard has not given a number, and it has said something unusual instead. Shely at the reveal:
"Diablo 5 is going to launch with more classes than ever before"
"I don't just mean more classes than another Diablo game at ship. I mean more classes total. And the thing about Diablo classes is that they're approachable. You can jump in; you can immediately have an exciting time playing them. But there's also deep ARPG mastery there, and a multitude of builds to explore."
Coverage of the reveal disagreed about what the second sentence means, with different readings of "more classes total" producing very different implied numbers. Because the team gave no figure, this wiki records the quote and nothing more. No class count should be inferred from it.
Deferred to 2027
Class detail is one of the subjects the team put on the record as deliberately withheld. Blizzard's announcement post says the class section is "an early look at how they're thinking about class identity, progression, and loot", and that "more details on their combat, progression, and build possibilities" are still to come. After the show the team said it is "not quite at the stage to detail individual classes and mechanics just yet", pointing at 2027 as the point when concrete detail starts arriving. See development and roadmap.
What has not been stated
Any skill, ability, skill tree, rune, passive or talent for any class.
Any resource system, cooldown, stat or number.
The total class count, or how many remain unrevealed.
Whether class relates to the Heir to Westmarch framing, and if so how.
Anything about class appearance, armour, gender options or customisation.
On returning classes. The Demon Hunter and the Monk have appeared in earlier games in the series. Nothing from those games carries over to this wiki as fact: no resource, skill, armour set or build from a previous title is Diablo V information, and Blizzard has named none of them for Diablo V.
