Eternal Anima is a turn-based role-playing game developed by Marvelous Inc. It was revealed on 9 September 2026 and is scheduled for release on 4 March 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam. Every official specification block lists the game as single-player, with one player and no multiplayer component of any kind.
The Japanese title is 『ETERNAL ANIMA(エターナルアニマ)』. The game also ships under 《ETERNAL ANIMA 永恆的靈漪》 in Traditional Chinese and 《ETERNAL ANIMA 永恒的灵漪》 in Simplified Chinese, both of which build the in-game substance 靈漪 into the product name itself. English-language material renders that substance simply as Anima, and no other official English form of it exists.
Marketing copy in English carries the tagline "Rewrite the past. Shape the future.", alongside the one-liners "Save the past to free the present" and "Embark on an adventure across eras". The Japanese line is 「過去を書き換え、未来をつなげ。時代をつなぐ「継承」のJRPG」. The two concept keywords the developer returns to repeatedly are 「継承」 (keishō, inheritance; the romanization here is ours) and 「進化」 (shinka, evolution).

Premise
The protagonist is Wade, an ace of the peacekeeping body Revision in the sky-borne city of Urvis Ael. Urvis Ael is presented as a false paradise: its people live unchanging days under The Almighty, and any word or deed that points toward progress is a serious crime. Wade has no memories from more than three years ago. When he awakens an ability that lets him read the memories held in objects, he begins to doubt the paradise that was built for him, is branded a heretic and hunted, and throws himself into The Forbidden Sea in search of the world outside.
What follows is a journey across the past and the present alongside a group of new allies, with the goal of saving civilizations of the past from the catastrophes that ended them. Official copy describes the wider world as ruined after its continents sank into the sea, and refers to four lost continents. See Story and World and Setting for the detail, and note the naming caution below.
The Three Signature Systems
The official site organises the game around three named pillars, one for growth, one for battle and one for story.
Pillar | Official name | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Growth | Class System / 叡智継承 | Reading the memories inside an object lets Wade inherit the Classes and Skills of the hero who once owned it. See Classes and Skills. |
Battle | Battle System / 未来予測 | Turn-based command combat in which the game shows what each enemy is about to do and what the result will be, so the player can rewrite it. See Battle System and Future Sight. |
過去改変 (past alteration) | Connecting the histories of two eras, so that actions taken in the past are felt in the present. See Time Travel. |
Feeding all three is the protagonist's own ability, covered in Psychometry and Anima. A broader tour of how the pieces fit together sits in Gameplay.
A Note on Names
As of September 2026 the English official site is a where-to-buy teaser with no character or world section, so official English names exist for only a small part of the cast and setting. Confirmed in official English are Wade, Neria, M.O.S., the Almighty, Urvis Ael, Psychometry, Future Sight and the Forbidden Sea. Other English spellings used across this wiki are taken from the official site's own URL slugs, which are a strong hint but not confirmed shipping names. Where a romanization of a Japanese or Chinese term is ours rather than official, this wiki says so.
