Answers below reflect what has been officially published as of 15 September 2026, six days after the game was announced. Many of them are negatives, and every negative here is dated rather than stated as permanent. See Eternal Anima for the overview.

Release and Platforms
The release date is 4 March 2027 everywhere. Japanese copy carries a footnote that the Steam build unlocks at 03:00 JST on 5 March, which is a clock time rather than a second date: it lands on 4 March across Western time zones. The Steam listing's own planned-release field reads a day earlier than the publisher's own announcement on the same page, and as of 15 September 2026 that field is a store artefact rather than a source. More detail is in Release and Platforms.
Xbox is announced but unlisted. Xbox Series X and S appear on every official platform list, yet no Microsoft Store or Xbox product page existed as of 15 September 2026; the Japanese and Asian official sites both show a wait-for-pre-orders message on their Xbox tiles. That is an expected gap this far ahead of launch, not a cancellation.
Price and Editions
Japanese pricing is set: ¥7,678 including tax for the standard edition in either package or download form, and ¥8,778 including tax for the Digital Deluxe Edition. In North America the physical standard edition is $49.99 on PlayStation 5 and $59.99 on Nintendo Switch 2, with a physical Limited Edition at $79.99 and $89.99 respectively. Western digital pricing and pre-order dates were explicitly still to be announced as of September 2026. Editions and Pricing carries the regional breakdown including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Europe.
Physical Media
This differs by region and both statements are first-party. In Japan, the Nintendo Switch 2 package version is a Game-Key Card: it needs an internet connection, downloads the game on first play, and requires 16 GB or more of free storage, a figure the publisher notes may change. In North America, the Switch 2 release ships fully on cartridge. European box art in the official product photography carries a Game-Key Card banner, but that is visible only in an image and is worth re-checking nearer launch. The planned Switch 2 download size is 15.6 GB.
Languages
The publisher's own specification block lists eight display languages: Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean. Nintendo's storefront metadata for two separate regions lists the same eight. Voice is in Japanese and English on every surface. As of 15 September 2026 the Steam listing shows seven, omitting Korean, and is the only surface to specify Spanish as Castilian. Whether the Steam build genuinely lacks Korean or the field is simply incomplete this early is not resolvable from official sources today.
Ratings
No board has rated the game. CERO is listed as 審査予定, rating pending. The North American publisher's own statement is that the title has not yet been rated by the ESRB, and official edition artwork carries the RP (Rating Pending) icon. A provisional PEGI 12 appears on official European product artwork, but it exists only as part of an image and is marked provisional, so it should not be treated as a final classification. Ratings from other boards could not be established one way or the other and are unknown rather than absent. The auto-generated rating values that appear inside the Steam storefront's data are publisher questionnaire outputs, not board decisions.
Is Hironobu Sakaguchi Involved?
No. The publisher's own wording is 「坂口博信氏をゲストに迎え」, welcoming Mr. Hironobu Sakaguchi as a guest. The video in question is a recurring series in which the game's director talks with a guest JRPG developer, and this instalment pairs him with the director on the theme of inheritance. Sakaguchi did play a build before filming and gave positive impressions on camera, but he appears nowhere in the eleven-credit official staff list, and he is not a developer, designer, producer, supervisor or consultant on this game. Expect future instalments of the same video series with other guests, each of which will raise the same question with the same answer.
Technology
The game runs on Unreal Engine. This is confirmed by the branding in the footer of the official English site and by the Epic Games trademark notice on the Japanese site, rather than by a prose statement, and no engine version has been published. The same footer carries an Xbox Play Anywhere logo, which likewise appears as branding and not in any written source, so it is worth re-checking once the Xbox listing appears. The planned Nintendo Switch 2 download size is 15.6 GB, and cloud save support is listed as undecided.
Other Games With Similar Names
Eternal Anima is not connected to Honkai: Nexus Anima, Anima: Gate of Memories, Eternal Strands, Eternights, Eternal Sonata or Eternal Return. It is also unrelated to the other titles its publisher makes; a staff member's famous prior credits are biography and nothing more. Development Team states each person's credit on this game precisely.
Event Appearances
No Tokyo Game Show 2026 booth, playable build or stage show had been announced as of 15 September 2026, with the show due to open on 17 September. There have also been no press interviews and no independent hands-on previews as of that date. The one substantive source of design commentary is the official developer conversation video, which is promotional material rather than independent coverage; the only person confirmed to have played the game outside the development team is the invited guest in it.
