Eternal Anima releases worldwide on Thursday 4 March 2027, on all four announced platforms. Japanese listings mark it 発売予定, planned, which is standard for a Japanese storefront this far from launch and is not a hedge on the date itself.
Settling the Date
Three different dates circulate for this game, and only one of them is a release date. The other two are artefacts, and both have an explanation.
What you may see | What it actually is |
|---|---|
4 March 2027 | The release date. It is what the publisher's Japanese site, its Asian site, its North American and European announcements, its own storefront announcement post and both Nintendo eShop listings all say. |
3 March 2027 | A stale field on one PC storefront. It is not a time-zone rendering: the identical string comes back for the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the European Union, so it is a fixed value, not a localised timestamp. That same store page carries the publisher's own announcement titled for 4 March, which contradicts it. |
5 March 2027, 03:00 JST | An unlock clock, not a date. That is the moment the PC build goes live, and it equals 4 March at 18:00 UTC, so the PC version unlocks on 4 March everywhere west of Japan. Only Japan and East Asia see the clock roll past midnight. |
Write and read the date as 4 March 2027. The 3 March field is worth re-checking nearer launch, since fields like it do get corrected, but no publisher source supports it today.
Platforms
Four platforms are announced: Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. One point of confusion is worth heading off: the PC storefront's own platforms field reads Windows only, which describes that particular SKU rather than the game's platform list. The publisher's specification block is the authority and lists all four.
Platform | Store status as of 15 September 2026 | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Nintendo Switch 2 | Listed in Japan and Hong Kong | Download size given as 15.6 GB, planned. The Japanese download listing shows as not yet on sale. Cloud save backup support is listed as undecided. |
PlayStation 5 | Listed in Japanese and English regions | Offline play, controller vibration and power saver supported, with fourteen accessibility features itemised. |
Xbox Series X and S | No store listing found anywhere | An announced platform with no listing. Europe is offered a physical edition; no digital SKU exists in any region. |
PC | Listed, with no price set in any region | System requirements are placeholder: a 64-bit processor and operating system, with additional notes reading TBD. |
The Missing Xbox Listing
As of 15 September 2026 no Xbox or Microsoft Store product page exists for this game. This is a checked absence, not an oversight in looking. The full store sitemap index was pulled and all thirteen product sitemap files, roughly 45,500 product URLs with a 14 September timestamp, were scanned for the title; it is not among them, while 130 unrelated products with similar names are. A storefront autosuggest check in both the English and Japanese markets returned nothing as well.
The absence is also expected rather than mysterious. The official site's Xbox Series X|S tiles read 「予約開始までしばらくお待ちください」, please wait a while until pre-orders open, for both the standard and deluxe download versions. Xbox is simply behind the other three platforms on store setup.
Physical Media Differs by Region
This is the sharpest regional trap on the game, and both sides of it are first-party. Anyone writing from English sources alone will state the North American answer and be wrong for Japan.
Territory | Nintendo Switch 2 physical format | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
Japan | A Game-Key Card. It requires an internet connection, downloads the game on first play, and needs 16 GB or more of free storage. The publisher notes the free-space figure may change. | Stated in text in the official specification footnote |
North America | Fully on cartridge, explicitly not a Game-Key Card | Stated in text in the English announcement |
Europe | The box art carries a GAME-KEY CARD banner, which would match Japan rather than North America | Image-sourced only. It appears in no text on any page, so treat it as provisional until a text source confirms it. |
Where a page on this wiki refers to the physical release, it should name the region. There is no single correct answer to what is on the card.
Languages
The game supports eight display languages: Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean. Voice acting is in Japanese and English, with no English cast announced as yet.
Surface | Display languages listed | Voice |
|---|---|---|
Publisher specification blocks, Japanese and Asian | Eight, including Korean | Japanese and English |
Nintendo eShop, Japan and Hong Kong | Eight, the same set | Japanese and English |
One PC storefront | Seven. Korean is omitted, and it is the only surface that specifies Spanish as Spanish (Spain). | Japanese and English |
European publisher page | Five, dropping both Chinese locales and Korean | Japanese and English |
The eight-language list is the one to use, because two independent first-party surfaces publish it and the eShop metadata is generated from the publisher's submitted title data rather than from marketing copy. The narrower European list is a regional marketing view. The seven-language PC list is the genuine outlier and has not been resolved: either that build will not carry Korean, or the field is incomplete this early, which the same page's incorrect release-date field makes plausible. Re-check it before launch.
One Nintendo-specific note: Japan-region Switch 2 consoles are stated to play this title in Japanese only, with the usual caveat that some software permits an in-game language change.
Rating Status
No classification board has assigned this game a rating. Every status below is either pending, a publisher statement, or unknown because the board could not be checked.
Board | Status as of 15 September 2026 |
|---|---|
CERO (Japan) | 審査予定, rating pending. Stated on the publisher's own specification block. |
ESRB (North America) | Not yet rated. The publisher states directly that the title has not yet been rated, and the packaging art carries an RP icon. |
PEGI (Europe) | A provisional 12 icon appears in one official promotional image and in no page text. No board record was retrieved. |
USK (Germany) | A search of the board's own site returned no entry for this title. |
GRAC (Korea) and the Australian Classification Board | Not checked. Status is unknown, which is not the same as absent, and neither should be written up as unrated. |
One caution on storefront rating values. The PC listing returns numeric ratings for several territories, but each carries a flag marking it as generated from the publisher's own questionnaire rather than issued by a board. Those are self-ratings and must never be presented as classification decisions.
PlayStation 5 Accessibility
The PlayStation Store listing is the only surface that itemises accessibility support, and it lists fourteen features. No equivalent breakdown has been published for any other platform, so nothing here should be assumed to carry across to the Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox or PC versions.
Category | What the listing states |
|---|---|
Visual | Visual comfort support at a basic level |
Audio | Volume control support |
Subtitles | Basic subtitles and basic captions |
Controls | Button remapping at a basic level |
Input requirements | Playable without simultaneous button presses, without motion control and without touch input |
Haptics | Playable without controller vibration and without adaptive trigger effects |
Separately from accessibility, the same listing confirms DualSense vibration support and power saver support, and states that the game plays offline.
Engine
The game runs on Unreal Engine. This is confirmed by the official site's own branding rather than by prose: the English site carries an Unreal Engine footer logo and the Japanese site carries the corresponding Epic Games trademark notice. No engine version has been stated. The English footer also carries an Xbox Play Anywhere logo, which appears in no text on any page and is therefore a branding-level claim pending a written confirmation, particularly since no Xbox store listing exists to support it yet.
Other Platform Details
Single-player only, on every platform, with no multiplayer or online mode announced.
The PC SKU lists achievements, full controller support including DualShock and DualSense pads, cloud saves and family sharing.
No demo, playtest, beta or trial has been announced, and the PC listing carries no demo entry at all.
Pricing and edition contents for each of these platforms are covered in Editions and Pricing, and the publishing arrangement that produces the regional differences in Marvelous.
