Sanctum of Oblation is one of several Sanctum challenge locations in Crimson Desert. It is situated on the Crowtalon Isles, far east of Delesyia, on a small island in the bottom-right portion of the map. Like other sanctums, it is inhabited by Antumbra fiends that must be cleared before the player can safely explore the area. The primary reward for completing this sanctum is the Red Needle, a one-handed katana with strong critical stats.

The Sanctum of Oblation is located on the Crowtalon Isles in the Delesyian Territory. To reach it, travel to the far eastern edge of the Delesyia region and look for the small island chain in the bottom-right corner of the world map. The sanctum entrance is marked by a large arched gate. Before attempting the puzzle, make sure to clear the area of Antumbra enemies, as they will interfere with exploration and make the puzzle considerably harder to solve.
The Sanctum of Oblation contains an environmental puzzle centered around a Fusion Core Reactor and a stone lantern. Solving this puzzle unlocks the treasure chest containing the Red Needle. Here is a step-by-step guide:
Enter the sanctum through the main arched gate. Immediately turn left upon entering.
Instead of continuing straight, shift toward the right-side area. This section is slightly hidden and easy to overlook if you rush through.
Descend the staircase to the lower levels of the sanctum.
Locate the room containing a floating power core (Fusion Core Reactor: XIV-IV). Use Axiom Force to grab the reactor and press Triangle/Y to seal it in the Kuku Pot.
Return to the sanctum area and access the Kuku Pot to discard the reactor. Use Axiom Force to push it northward toward a pillar without a top.
Rotate the reactor against the pillar until green leaves appear, then use Jump + Force Palm to stand atop the reactor, and jump again to slot it into place.
Behind the power core room, find and ignite a stone lantern. This is the critical step that triggers the unlocking mechanism for the treasure chest.
Backtrack to the entrance of the lower section and take the alternate path you initially bypassed. This path now leads to an unlocked treasure chest containing the Red Needle.
The lantern ignition is the key puzzle trigger. Without lighting it, the treasure chest remains locked regardless of how many enemies you clear or rooms you explore.
The Red Needle is a one-handed katana (hwando) that favors speed and critical efficiency over raw power. It is a lightweight, precise weapon well-suited for players who prefer a critical-hit-focused build.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Weapon | |
Type | One-handed sword (katana / hwando) |
Base Attack | 19 |
Level 2 | |
Level 1 | |
Refinement | Mid-tier |
The Red Needle comes with three Abyss Gear modifiers that can be applied to customize the weapon's performance:
Effect | Best For | |
|---|---|---|
+1 Attack | Raw damage builds | |
+Critical Rate Level 1 | Critical-hit-focused builds (recommended) | |
+Attack Speed Level 1 | Fast-paced combat styles |
Insight I synergizes best with the Red Needle's existing Level 2 Critical Rate, pushing the weapon's critical chance even higher. This combination makes the Red Needle one of the more reliable critical-hit weapons available in the early-to-mid game.
The Sanctum of Oblation is part of a larger series of sanctum challenges scattered across the world. Other sanctums include:
Clear all Antumbra enemies before attempting the puzzle. They can interrupt your interactions with the Fusion Core Reactor and lantern.
If you miss the stone lantern behind the power core room, backtrack carefully. The lantern is in a slightly hidden alcove that is easy to walk past.
The Red Needle pairs well with critical-hit builds. Consider equipping the Insight I Abyss Gear modifier immediately after picking it up.
This sanctum is part of the Witch of Humility cleansing questline. Completing it contributes toward liberating all sanctums in the Delesyian Territory.
The Sanctum of Oblation was cleansed.
The Sanctum of Oblation is tied to a second witch, the Witch of Eliza Leah, whose questline must be unlocked before the sanctum marker becomes objective-tracked on the map. The unlock is a two-step bridge encounter plus a hidden cave.
Travel to the bridge north of Demeniss. The bridge is some distance past the closest fast travel point. A stranger is waiting there.
Help the stranger. After the interaction, the stranger vanishes, and a map marker appears for the witch's home.
Fast travel to the marker south of Demeniss near Serpent Marsh. From the fast travel point, drop DOWN into the cave entrance rather than climbing up; the upward path is a dead end.
Speak with the witch in the cave. Her dialogue marks the Sanctum of Oblation and any other sanctums tied to her faction.
Cleansing the sanctum requires finding two missing pieces: the cube and a piece of the fourth pillar. Defeat every enemy inside, slot both pieces into their positions, then wait for the witch cutscene to complete.

Kuku Insect Gatherer's Pack blueprint | Unlocks the recipe slot at Grimly Agrodol Pal's Calden workbench. With the blueprint and a base Kuku Pack, the craft consumes 1 Power Core - Ore of Resipiscence, 1 Power Core - Crown of Shadows, and 3 Abyss Cells. |
The Kuku Pack itself is gated behind a different sanctum, the Sanctum of Penitence under the Witch of Wisdom. Make sure you have both blueprints before heading to Grimly, or the recipe will appear greyed out even if you have every material.
The initial bridge stranger is easy to miss; the stranger disappears after being helped, so if a witch marker does not appear after the bridge interaction, reload a recent save and redo the help action.
If you land outside the cave, look for the lower ledge path rather than trying to climb. The cave entrance is below the fast travel point, not above it.
