Major expansion: corrected region from Pailune to Kweiden, corrected favorite food from Fine Meat to Bird Meat, added variant images, equipment table, detailed trust items table with tiers, daily trust strategy, pet health section, breed comparison, and expanded tips

The Husky is a dog breed that can be registered as a pet companion in Crimson Desert. It is a thick-coated, cold-weather dog native to the Kweiden region on the continent of Pywel. Recognizable by its sturdy build, distinctive facial markings, and dense double coat, the Husky is well adapted to colder climates and is one of the rarer dog breeds in the game. Like all pets, the Husky follows Kliff during exploration and automatically collects loot dropped by defeated enemies and resources from the environment.
To register a Husky, you must build 100 trust through petting and feeding. The Husky's favorite food is Bird Meat, which grants +35 trust per feeding. With three servings of Bird Meat and a few pettings, a Husky can be tamed in a single in-game day. Players seeking this breed should travel to the Kweiden region, where Huskies can be found wandering settlements in the cold northern landscape.

The Husky is a large, powerful dog with a thick double coat designed for cold weather. It has a broad chest, sturdy legs, and a bushy tail that curls upward. Its most recognizable features are the distinctive facial markings, typically a mix of gray, white, and black, along with alert triangular ears and bright, intelligent eyes. The Husky's heavy coat and muscular frame set it apart from leaner breeds like the Jindo and Greyhound, giving it a rugged look that fits the cold northern landscapes it inhabits.
The Husky has two visual variants that can be found in the world. Both variants share the same trust requirements, abilities, and stats. The difference is purely cosmetic.
Image | Variant | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Husky | The standard Husky coat with classic gray and white markings. This is the default variant found in Kweiden settlements. |
| Wolfdog | A darker, more wild-looking variant with coloring that resembles a wolf. Shares the same locations and taming process as the standard Husky. |
The Husky is native to the Kweiden region, making it one of the more geographically restricted dog breeds in the game. Unlike the Jindo, which appears in settlements across every region, the Husky is limited to the cold northern areas of Pywel. Players who want to adopt a Husky will need to travel to Kweiden specifically.
Within the Kweiden region, Huskies can be found wandering towns and settlements. They tend to stay near populated areas rather than roaming the open wilderness. Check around market stalls, town squares, and residential streets. If a Husky is not visible on your first visit, try returning at a different in-game hour, as animals cycle between spawn points throughout the day and night.
You can also leave the area and fast travel back to trigger a respawn of stray animals. Using a lantern can help highlight nearby creatures and make the interaction prompt appear more quickly, particularly at night.
Taming a Husky follows the standard pet trust system. You must accumulate 100 trust through a combination of petting and feeding. Both actions have daily caps tied to the in-game clock, which resets at midnight. The trust meter appears in the top-left corner of the screen whenever you interact with the stray.
Petting grants +5 trust per interaction. You can pet a dog up to 5 times per in-game day, for a maximum of +25 trust from petting alone each day. Petting is free and requires no items. To pet the Husky, approach it and hold the interaction button (Square on PlayStation, E on PC).
Feeding is the fastest way to build trust. You can feed a stray up to 3 times per in-game day. To feed the Husky, open your inventory, select a food item, and discard it on the ground near the dog. The Husky will walk over and eat the food if it is hungry. The trust gained per feeding depends on the quality and type of food offered.
Once the trust meter reaches 100, interact with the Husky and hold the button to select the "Take In" prompt. The Husky is then permanently registered as your pet and appears in your inventory under the Pets tab. For a full breakdown of trust values and advanced taming strategies, see the main Pet Taming Guide.
The Husky accepts a wide range of food items, but the trust gained varies by item type and quality. Bird Meat is the Husky's favorite food, granting the highest trust bonus. The table below lists the main trust item categories and their values.
Item | Trust | Notes |
|---|---|---|
+35 | Favorite food. Highest trust per feed. | |
+25 | High trust. Obtained from animal drops. | |
+25 | High trust. Dropped by larger creatures. | |
Cooked meals (Field Iron Griddle) | +20 | Grilled meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, toasted grains, smoked eggs, skewers, braised meats, battered items, pickled foods, rice cakes, and similar dishes. |
Cooked meals (Field Cooking Pot) | +20 | Soups, porridges, stews, braised ribs, steamed eggs, fishball soup, fruit punch, and similar pot-cooked dishes. |
Raw Meat (all types) | +10 | Tough Meat, Lean Bird Meat, Bird Meat, Lean Meat, Fine Meat, Tender Meat, Marbled Meat. |
Raw Bird Meat (all types) | +10 | Lean Bird Meat, Bird Meat. |
Fruit | +10 | Apple, Grape, Orange, Peach, Tomato. |
Vegetable | +10 | All raw vegetables. |
Dairy Product (Tier 1) | +10 | Basic dairy products. |
Cooked meals from both the Field Iron Griddle and the Field Cooking Pot grant +20 trust regardless of the specific recipe. Each cooked meal also comes in Hearty, Satisfying, and Filling quality tiers, all of which provide the same +20 trust. Because Bird Meat grants +35 trust per feed (nearly double the value of cooked meals), it is the most efficient item for taming a Husky quickly.
You can craft a Companionship enchant on Abyss gear to increase the rate of trust gained with pets. The Solidarity enchant increases trust gain with all NPCs and animals, making it useful if you plan to tame multiple pets across Pywel.
The number of in-game days needed to register a Husky depends on which food you use. The table below shows the maximum trust you can earn per day with different approaches.
Strategy | Petting | Feeding | Total per Day | Days to 100 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Bird Meat + Petting | 5 x 5 = +25 | 3 x 35 = +105 | +130 | 1 day |
Bones + Petting | 5 x 5 = +25 | 3 x 25 = +75 | +100 | 1 day |
Cooked Meals + Petting | 5 x 5 = +25 | 3 x 20 = +60 | +85 | 2 days |
Raw Meat + Petting | 5 x 5 = +25 | 3 x 10 = +30 | +55 | 2 days |
Petting Only | 5 x 5 = +25 | None | +25 | 4 days |
Using Bird Meat is by far the most efficient approach for taming a Husky. Three Bird Meat feeds alone provide +105 trust, which already exceeds the 100 threshold without any petting required. If you want to tame a Husky on your very first encounter, bring at least three Bird Meat with you. You can also rest at campfires and cooking pots to skip forward in 12-hour increments, resetting your daily interaction counters. This lets you accumulate trust across multiple "days" in a single real-world sitting.
The Husky's primary function is automatic looting. Once registered, your Husky follows you during exploration and combat. After enemies are defeated, the dog sprints around the battlefield collecting all dropped items, including materials, equipment, and resources. This saves a significant amount of time during extended fights and dungeon runs. The auto-loot function triggers once the area is clear of hostile enemies, so your pet will not collect items while you are still actively fighting.
In addition to enemy drops, the Husky picks up resources found in the environment while you explore. When you harvest materials such as herbs, ores, or wood, the dog automatically collects nearby loose items, further reducing manual gathering time.
Pets have no loot filter. The Husky will pick up everything it finds, including low-value junk items such as rusted swords and cheap gear. Keep an eye on your inventory and sell off unwanted items regularly at merchants to avoid running out of space.
Your Husky follows you at all times during on-foot exploration. It keeps pace with your character and stays nearby even at a jog. When you mount a horse, your active pet temporarily disappears and returns once you dismount. Unsummoned pets wait at Greymane Camp while not active. If your Husky does not appear after dismounting, open the Pets tab in your inventory, unsummon it, and resummon it to force it to respawn at your location.
Pets can sustain injuries during combat encounters. An injured Husky is unable to run and will move slowly until healed, which significantly slows down both exploration and looting. To heal your pet, you must first clear all enemies from the immediate area, then use Healing Force Palm on the dog to restore it to full mobility. Healing Force Palm is a variant of Force Palm from Kliff's skill tree and unlocks automatically once Force Palm reaches Level 1.
On PlayStation, hold R3 to charge Force Palm, then press L3 to switch to Healing Force Palm. On PC, hold the mouse wheel button, then press Tab. Aim at your injured Husky and release to heal it. Always heal your pet as soon as possible after a fight to maintain efficient auto-looting.
The Husky can be dressed in cosmetic equipment including hats, helmets, body armor, and full outfits. Pet equipment is purely cosmetic and does not affect gameplay stats or defensive capabilities. The following equipment items are available for the Husky:
Equipment | Slot | Description |
|---|---|---|
Rescue Puppy Outfit | Pet Outfit | A distinctive rescue-themed outfit. One of the most common dog outfits available at pet tailor shops. |
Puppy Plate Helm | Pet Helm | A small plate-armored helmet designed for dogs. Gives your Husky a knightly appearance. |
Puppy Plate Armor | Pet Outfit | Full plate armor body piece for dogs. Pairs with the Puppy Plate Helm for a complete armored look. |
Puppy Cloth Hat | Pet Helm | A soft cloth hat for dogs. Lighter and more casual in appearance than the plate helm. |
Puppy Cloth Outfit | Pet Outfit | A cloth body outfit for dogs. Provides a cozy, casual look that contrasts with heavier armor options. |
Pet cosmetics can be purchased from two tailor shops that specialize in pet clothing.
Shop | Location | Access Requirement |
|---|---|---|
Milou's Tailor Shop | Complete The Unreachable Village and Authorised Access quests | |
Pets-Tailor's Shop | Demeniss (southwest of Demeniss Castle) | Reach Demeniss region |
Milou's Tailor Shop in Pororin Forest Village carries the larger inventory. To unlock access to the village, you must attempt to enter the settlement three times, which triggers The Unreachable Village quest chain. The Demeniss tailor is accessible once you reach that region and carries a smaller selection of items.
There are several dog breeds in Crimson Desert. All breeds share the same core abilities (following and auto-looting) and use the same trust mechanics, so the differences between breeds are primarily cosmetic and geographical. The table below compares the Husky with other common dog breeds.
Breed | Size | Region | Favorite Food | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Husky | Large | Thick-coated cold-weather breed. Limited to Kweiden region. | ||
Medium | All regions | Fine Meat | Widest availability. Found in settlements across every region. | |
Small-Medium | Multiple regions | Varies | Smaller, energetic breed with broad regional presence. | |
Large | Across the continent | Varies | Largest dog breed in Pywel. Gentle giant. | |
Medium-Large | Everywhere except Pailune | Varies | Elegant, slender build with remarkable speed. | |
Large | Various regions | Varies | Tall, lean sighthound breed built for speed. |
Since all breeds share the same gameplay functionality, choosing a pet comes down to personal preference in appearance and which breed you encounter during your travels. The Husky's limited availability in Kweiden makes it a prized companion for collectors, and its thick-coated appearance is a favorite among players who enjoy the cold northern aesthetic.
You can register up to 30 pets total, though only one can be actively summoned at a time. All registered companions are managed through the Pets tab in the inventory menu. From this screen you can summon, swap, equip cosmetics, or release a pet. Releasing a pet ("Untie") is permanent and cannot be undone.
Collecting all 30 unique pets across Pywel completes a Life Challenge and earns the Natural Collector trophy. This challenge encourages visiting every settlement and checking back at different times of day, since animals roam to different spots throughout the daily cycle. The Husky's restriction to the Kweiden region makes it one of the breeds you will need to make a specific trip to find.
Bring Bird Meat to Kweiden. Stock up on Bird Meat before traveling to the Kweiden region. Three feeds of Bird Meat (+105 trust) are enough to register a Husky on the spot without any petting needed.
Bird Meat is more efficient than Fine Meat for this breed. While Fine Meat grants +35 trust for most dog breeds, the Husky's favorite food is Bird Meat, which also grants +35. Other meat types only give +10 trust, so always prioritize Bird Meat for taming Huskies.
Bones are a good alternative. Small Bone and Large Bone each grant +25 trust. If you have bones from hunting, they offer a solid alternative when Bird Meat is not available.
Isolate the stray before feeding. Guards and other nearby animals will try to eat the food you drop. Lure the Husky to an isolated spot, or unsummon your current pet first, before discarding food on the ground.
Check different times of day. If a Husky is not visible in a Kweiden settlement, leave and return at a different in-game hour. Animals cycle between spawn points throughout the day and night.
Rest at campfires to speed up taming. If you are using lower-tier foods or petting only, rest at a campfire or cooking pot to skip 12 hours. This resets daily interaction caps and lets you accumulate trust faster in real time.
Use the Companionship enchant. Crafting a Companionship enchant on Abyss gear increases the rate of trust gained with pets, making the taming process even faster.
Heal injuries immediately. An injured Husky that cannot run will slow down your entire exploration loop. Use Healing Force Palm as soon as combat ends.
Sell junk regularly. Your Husky picks up everything during auto-loot, including low-value items. Visit merchants frequently to clear out your inventory.
Look for the Wolfdog variant. If you prefer a darker, more wild-looking Husky, keep an eye out for the Wolfdog variant in the same Kweiden settlements. It shares identical stats and abilities.
