Grunvar and Scholastone
Flow of the Abyss is issued by Grunvar at the Scholastone Institute in Hernand. The quest becomes available only after you complete The Secret to Concentration for Grunvar (the Honey Tea delivery) and unlock the first research slot with the Beekeeper Gear Blueprint project.
Step by Step Walkthrough
Complete The Secret to Concentration so Grunvar opens his project tree.
Speak with Grunvar inside the Scholastone Institute to accept Flow of the Abyss.
Walk out to the institute gardens and locate the round abyss sculpture.
Interact with the sculpture, select the "Look at" option, and wait for the Learn Knowledge bar to fill.
Speak to the researcher standing directly next to the sculpture to close the quest.
Research Unlock
Completing the observation unlocks the Faded Abyss Artifact blueprint and the Abyss Energy Restoration Phenomenon research slot. Crucially, clearing Flow of the Abyss is a gating step on the path toward the Abyssal Energy Research project that unlocks the Health Level 11-to-18 ceiling lift later in the tree.
Tips
Chain this with Ancient Abyss Research and Abyss Rocket Device. All three are short observation tasks that cluster the institute area.
Do not skip the dialogue with the researcher. If you just read the sculpture and leave, the quest does not tick over.
