Butcheries are specialized vendor shops found in towns, settlements, and tribal outposts across Pywel. They are the primary place to purchase raw meat ingredients without having to hunt animals yourself. Each butchery is run by a named butcher who stocks a selection of meat cuts and occasionally other food-related items such as Small Bags. Buying from a butchery is usually the fastest way to fill your cooking inventory when you need to craft meat-based food in bulk.
There are 8 confirmed butchery locations spread across the continent. The largest butcheries carry 7 to 8 items and are found in major cities like Delesyia, Demeniss, and Hernand. Smaller settlements such as the Skoghorn Tribe and Vellua have more limited butchery inventories with 3 to 5 items. The remote Isvatu butchery also carries 5 items and has no listed merchant name in available data.
For an overview of the vendor system and buying mechanics, see the Vendors article. For a full region-by-region merchant listing, see the Vendor Directory. Butcheries complement Grocer's Shops (for grains, produce, and seasoning) and Provisioner's Shops (for tools and general goods).
Butcheries stock the same core set of meat cuts, organized by quality tier. Higher-tier cuts are more expensive but yield better results in cooking recipes, producing dishes with stronger buffs or greater serving counts. Knowing the difference between tiers helps you decide which cuts to buy based on what recipe you are preparing.
Meat Type | Price (Copper) | Tier | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
15 | Common | The most widely available cut. Used in basic meat recipes and as a filler ingredient in mixed dishes. Carried by every butchery in the game. | |
15 | Common | Same price tier as Lean Meat but a distinct ingredient used in different recipe categories. Carried by all major butcheries. | |
25 | Uncommon | A mid-grade cut priced at 25 copper. Required for many intermediate cooking recipes that produce stronger combat or stamina buffs. | |
25 | Uncommon | The same price as Tender Meat but a separate ingredient. Used in higher-quality meat dishes. Carried by all butcheries except the smallest locations. | |
35 | Rare | The most expensive butchery item at 35 copper. Found only at the larger city butcheries. Used in advanced recipes that grant the best food buffs in the game. | |
varies | Utility | Not a meat item. Sold at two butcheries (Hernand's Renee) as part of an expanded inventory alongside the standard meat cuts. |
All five meat types can also be obtained by hunting wild animals in the open world and using a butchering tool to harvest the carcass. Purchasing from a butchery skips the hunting step and is the better option when you need large quantities quickly or when hunting is not practical during your current session.
The eight butcheries are spread unevenly across the map, with the highest concentration in the Hernand region and the eastern corridor. Each entry below lists the merchant name, item count, and notable inventory details.
The Delesyia butchery is one of the two largest in the game with 7 items in stock. It is staffed by two merchants, Nancy and Mokosh, who share the same counter. Between them they cover the full five-cut meat lineup (Lean Meat, Fine Meat, Tender Meat, Marbled Meat, Exotic Meat) plus two additional items, making this a reliable one-stop shop for cooking ingredient runs in the Delesyia region.

7 | Shares inventory with Nancy. Same 7-item selection available from either merchant. |
The Demeniss butchery is run by a single merchant named Mariana and stocks 7 items. Like the Delesyia butchery, it carries the full range of standard meat cuts. Demeniss is a major city in the eastern region of Pywel, making this butchery conveniently located for players operating in that area.

Hernand has the most butchery coverage of any region in Pywel, with two separate butchery counters both staffed by a merchant named Renee. Both locations carry 8 items, the largest inventory of any butchery in the game. The extra slot beyond the standard meat-and-extras pattern is filled by Small Bag, making the Hernand butcheries the only ones to also sell a utility item alongside meat cuts. The two counters are likely located at different points within the Hernand settlement zone.

8 | Identical 8-item selection to Counter 1. Both counters accept the same currency and offer the same prices. |
The Pailune butchery is run by Mirabel and stocks 7 items. It carries the standard five-tier meat selection alongside two additional items. Pailune is accessible once the story progresses into that settlement zone, and Mirabel's butchery becomes the primary meat source for players stationed in that region.

The Skoghorn Tribe butchery is the most limited in the game, stocked by merchant Brynn with only 3 items. It carries Lean Meat, Fine Meat, and Tender Meat, covering the two cheapest cuts and one mid-grade option. Marbled Meat and Exotic Meat are not available here. This limited selection reflects the Skoghorn Tribe's more isolated position in Pywel, and the butchery functions as a basic resupply point rather than a dedicated ingredient source.

The Vellua butchery is run by Emeric and carries 5 items. It stocks the full five-tier meat lineup without additional items: Lean Meat, Fine Meat, Tender Meat, Marbled Meat, and Exotic Meat. Vellua's butchery is a compact but complete meat source for players traveling through the region.

The Isvatu butchery carries 5 items and has no listed merchant name in current available data. Like the Vellua butchery, it stocks the core five meat cuts across all price tiers. Isvatu is a remote location, and this butchery serves as the primary meat vendor for players operating in that part of Pywel.

Meat in Crimson Desert can be obtained two ways: buying it from a butchery or hunting animals and butchering the carcasses yourself. Both methods have clear advantages depending on your situation.
Buying from a butchery is faster and costs copper or silver. It is the best choice when you need a specific tier of meat quickly, when the region you are in has few huntable animals, or when you want to focus your session time on other activities. The main drawback is the copper cost and the fact that inventory is limited per restock cycle.
Hunting and butchering is slower but free beyond the cost of a butchering tool. It also gives you direct control over which animals you target, which can be useful for farming specific creature drops alongside the meat. Hunting also contributes to Gathering skill progression.
When stocking in bulk, butcheries are usually more efficient for common cuts (Lean Meat, Fine Meat) because they restock regularly and require no travel through hostile areas. For Exotic Meat specifically, buying from a major city butchery is often more reliable than hunting rare animals that drop it.
For players who rely heavily on cooked food buffs, a combination of both methods works well. Buy the bulk of your Lean Meat and Fine Meat from butcheries, and supplement your Exotic Meat supply through occasional hunting sessions targeting appropriate wildlife.
Butchery meat is a core ingredient category in Cooking. Most combat-relevant food buffs in Crimson Desert require at least one type of meat in their recipe. The following list covers the primary dish categories that consume butchery-purchased meat:
Boiled, Grilled, and Braised Meat dishes (such as Boiled Meat, Braised Meat) use Lean Meat and Fine Meat as their base. These are among the simplest recipes and are good for leveling cooking skill quickly.
Mixed meat and fish dishes (such as Assorted Meat and Fish Skewers, Battered Meat and Fish) use mid-tier cuts (Tender Meat, Marbled Meat) combined with fish fillets. These tend to grant stronger buffs than single-ingredient dishes.
Filling and Hearty variants of standard recipes use Tender Meat or Marbled Meat and produce multiple servings per craft. They represent a more copper-efficient use of butchery-purchased meat per serving delivered.
High-tier recipes requiring Exotic Meat produce the best combat food buffs in the game. Exotic Meat's 35-copper price makes these recipes the most expensive to mass-produce through butcheries alone, but the performance gains justify the cost for serious players.
See the Cooking article for a complete list of meat-based recipes and their required ingredients. For a full database of all food items, see All Cooking Recipes.
Visit Hernand first for the widest inventory. Renee's 8-item shops are the only butcheries that also carry Small Bag, making Hernand the best location for a combined meat-and-bag shopping run.
Use the Delesyia or Demeniss butcheries as your main Exotic Meat source. Both Nancy/Mokosh (Delesyia) and Mariana (Demeniss) carry all five meat tiers and stock 7 items. If you are farming Exotic Meat for high-tier cooking, plan your circuit around these two cities.
Do not rely on the Skoghorn Tribe butchery for advanced recipes. Brynn's 3-item shop lacks Marbled Meat and Exotic Meat entirely. It is suitable only for basic Lean Meat and Fine Meat restocking when you are in the region.
Restock at midnight. Like all vendor shops, butchery inventories reset at in-game midnight (0:00). Popular cuts can sell out during busy sessions. Visiting at midnight guarantees access to freshly stocked inventory.
Combine butchery runs with other vendor stops. Butcheries typically sit near Grocer's Shops and Provisioner's Shops in the same settlement. A single city sweep that hits all three vendor types is far more efficient than separate trips.
Hunting supplements butchery purchases. If copper is running low, supplement bought meat with hunted carcasses. Hunting animals and using a butchering tool provides free meat and also progresses your Gathering skill.
