The Ranger is a ranged damage dealer specializing in mobility and precision attacks. Rangers excel at neutralizing enemies from distance while maintaining options for close-quarters combat when necessary.
The class was playable in the first Closed Beta Test from June 20-22, 2025. Community guides written during that beta rated Rangers at or near the top for damage while keeping the class accessible to players with decent aim. That reflected community guides written during a three-day test rather than a measured result, and the studio has since said all classes will be re-evaluated for balance.

Rangers draw upon Vigor, described as a lifeforce representing their connection to nature. Vigor regenerates naturally over time and through movement.
The resource loop involves shooting, dodging, and repositioning to maintain Vigor regeneration. This encourages a mobile playstyle rather than standing still.
Rangers and Assassins are the only two classes that use Vigor as their primary resource.
The precision weapon for elemental damage. One beta-era account of the weapon names five arrow types: Impact, Flaming, Frost, Poison and Explosive. Slow at lower levels but scales well into late game.
Best used for single-target damage and group battles where the elemental effects can spread. Requires charge time for maximum damage.
The sustained DPS weapon. High rate of fire with forgiving aim mechanics. No charge time required.
Headshots receive damage multipliers. The special mechanic allows evasive maneuvers while firing. Smooth transitions into melee with Rapier make this weapon versatile.
The melee fallback weapon. High evasion with skills split between critical damage and damage-over-time builds.
Does not consume class resources for basic attacks, making it reliable when Vigor runs low. Use when enemies breach your range.
Mastering the Ranger means managing spacing. Begin engagements at range with Crossbow or Bow for poke damage, then pivot to Rapier when enemies close the gap.
The dual-weapon system allows hybrid playstyles. Crossbow provides consistent damage, Bow offers utility and crowd control, Rapier handles emergencies.
Like every class, the Ranger plugs into the Matrix System, the node-based progression layer Chrono Studio announced after the June 2025 closed beta. Each of the Ranger's three weapons (Crossbow, Bow, and Rapier) can evolve down one of four distinct paths, so two players on the same loadout can end up with different casting speeds, skill effects, and combat rhythm. The difference comes from the stats allocated through the Matrix, the passive skills unlocked along a path, and the attributes on equipped gear. The node layout is still under development, so treat specific path details as subject to change before launch.
Dual Hand Crossbows as primary with Bow for AoE utility and crowd control. Consistent damage output with flexibility.
Bow as primary with Rapier for close encounters. Higher skill ceiling but better single-target damage.
In the June 2025 build each weapon carried four skill slots, and those sat alongside a set of class-common skills shared across the whole class, for roughly ten usable skills at a time. No source states a total pool of eight abilities per weapon. Skills unlock through weapon mastery trees as you use each weapon.
Class-specific skills unlock at levels 10, 15, and 20 of Class Mastery.
Every name below comes from the June 2025 closed beta build and is recorded by a single guide desk. Chrono Studio has said that all classes will be re-evaluated for combat balance alongside the Matrix rework, so treat the list as a snapshot of that three-day test rather than as launch behaviour. No damage percentage, resource cost or cooldown has been published for any Ranger skill, so none is given here.
The four slots on a weapon's bar are drawn from that weapon's own list. Swapping to the other equipped weapon swaps the whole bar, which is why a Ranger's loadout choice matters more than the individual picks.
Weapon | Skill | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Charged Shot | Active | A powerful single-target shot that stuns, opening a burst window. | |
Radiant Arrow | Active | A finishing ability, strongest when it lands on a stunned target. | |
Fan Shot | Active | A cone attack for clearing groups and setting up follow-ups. | |
Retreating Shot | Active | Defensive mobility that still deals damage as it creates space. | |
Focused Draw | Passive | Grants a temporary attack boost when the Bow is drawn. | |
Rapid Fire Stance | Active | Sustained damage that helps generate Precision stacks. | |
Precise Shot | Active | A reliable damage ability that builds Precision toward stronger critical hits. | |
Butterfly Dance | Active | A high-damage multi-hit skill suited to burst windows. | |
Thrill of the Hunt | Active | A self-buff that raises damage output. | |
Tornado Shot | Active | The weapon's strongest tool for clearing groups of enemies. | |
Mortal Thrust | Active | A burst attack that reduces enemy defenses. | |
Counterattack | Active | Parries an incoming attack and retaliates with damage. | |
Double Thrust | Active | A fast melee strike that helps trigger critical-hit windows. | |
Crescent Slash | Active | Grants a stacking attack bonus. | |
Piercing Blade | Passive | Grants a critical-hit bonus when the Rapier is drawn. |
Two of those entries are swap passives rather than buttons. Focused Draw fires when the Ranger draws the Bow and Piercing Blade fires when the Ranger draws the Rapier, so a player who alternates weapons keeps both halves of the loadout contributing. See dual weapon switching for the recorded swap passives across every playable class. No swap passive has been published for the Crossbow as of 2026-09-11.
The Crossbow list also references a stacking mechanic called Precision, which no other Ranger weapon uses. It is documented on the Crossbow page; nothing published says whether it is a second class resource or a stack local to that weapon, so it is not treated as a resource here.
Class Mastery is separate from weapon mastery, which tracks a single weapon. Class Mastery picks apply to the Ranger no matter which two weapons are equipped, and in the beta build they opened at character levels 10, 15 and 20.
Level | Nodes recorded in the beta |
|---|---|
10 | Nimble Stride |
15 | Wind Dance, Verdant Snare |
20 | Fruit of Perseverance, Evasive Gale |
Nimble Stride was the only level 10 option recorded, so the real decisions sit at 15 and 20. Beta guides converged on four setups:
Goal | Level 10 | Level 15 | Level 20 |
|---|---|---|---|
Solo bosses | Nimble Stride | Wind Dance | Fruit of Perseverance |
Group content and crowd control | Nimble Stride | Verdant Snare | Evasive Gale |
Open-world farming | Nimble Stride | Wind Dance | Evasive Gale |
Support utility | Nimble Stride | Verdant Snare | Fruit of Perseverance |
These were guide-author recommendations from a three-day test, not published optimal builds, and no node effect has ever been described in detail.
During the closed beta the Bow and Crossbow pairing was the common Ranger loadout. Many players opened with the Crossbow to apply buffs and debuffs, then swapped to the Bow for the heavy burst abilities. The Rapier saw the least use of the three, though it stayed useful for players who wanted melee in the rotation.
Weapon popularity in the private focus group test held in February 2025, which is a separate and earlier test from the closed beta, put the bow first across all classes. The developers read that as players reaching for ranged or balanced options to keep fights stable.
Ranger balance was named among the issues being addressed when the release window slipped after the closed beta, specifically the Bow's range and accuracy. As of 2026-09-11 that is the only class-specific item in any published post-beta walk-back; everything else Chrono Studio has said about class problems applies across all six classes, including the statements that all classes shared similar roles without distinct identity and that ranged classes were easier to play than melee ones.
