Vigor is one of the three primary class resources in Chrono Odyssey, alongside Rage and Mana. Where Rage has to be built by fighting, Vigor returns on its own, which is what lets its classes break contact, reposition and come back in without losing their toolkit.
The Ranger and the Assassin both draw on Vigor. Only the Ranger was playable in the June 2025 Closed Beta Test. The Assassin has never been publicly playable and uses Vigor alongside a second gauge, Bloodlust.
How Vigor Works
Reveal-era class descriptions call Vigor a lifeforce representing the Ranger's connection to nature, something restored rather than earned. Class write-ups since have described it as regenerating over time and through movement, which lines up with how both classes are built: the Ranger kites and repositions, the Assassin leaps in and out of melee. As of 2026-09-11 that regeneration description has not appeared in a developer note, so read it as the community's account of the June 2025 build rather than as a published rule.
A crafted Vigor potion restores the bar instantly. Vigor and Mana are the only two class resources with a potion of their own in the recipe list documented from that build, which fits their shared design: both are meant to return on their own, so a consumable shortcut is a top-up rather than the main supply.
One account describes the Ranger's Rapier basic attacks as costing no class resource, which would make the melee weapon a reliable fallback when the bar runs dry. Nothing in the published skill listings confirms it, so it is recorded here as unconfirmed rather than stated as fact.
The Two Vigor Classes
Class | How it uses Vigor |
|---|---|
Bow, Crossbow and Rapier all draw on the same bar. The class is built around mobility and burst from range, with the Rapier covering close quarters when something closes the gap. | |
Vigor is the sustaining half of a two-resource kit. It covers mobility and ordinary attacks while Bloodlust accumulates separately and pays for finishers, which makes the Assassin the only class tracking two bars at once. |
Why It Rewards Movement
A resource that comes back on its own changes what a fight looks like. Rage classes lose their meter by leaving the fight, so disengaging costs them. Vigor classes lose nothing by stepping out, so retreating to recover is part of the rotation rather than a failure state. That is the mechanical reason both Vigor classes are described as hit-and-run rather than as attrition fighters, and it is why Dual Weapon Switching matters to them differently: the swap is about covering range bands rather than about banking resource.
