Ranger is the physical ranged damage class. It fights at distance with a bow, controls space with traps, and trades the burst ceiling of the melee damage classes for the ability to keep its rotation running while the fight moves.
Field | Detail |
|---|---|
Role | Ranged physical damage |
Weapon | Bow |
Signature mechanic | A precision-shot specialty bonus, and a line that converts critical rating into attack |
Party fit | Damage in five-player Expedition and ten-player Sanctuary content |
How It Plays
Ranger is usually recommended as one of the safer first characters: the playstyle forgives positional error better than the melee classes, and it scales well once the player learns to keep moving without dropping uptime. Traps and kiting carry the solo game, and the class's specialty bonuses reward landing precise shots rather than filling a cooldown queue.
Party Synergy
Ranger is one of the four classes that had party-wide synergy effects removed on April 21, 2026, alongside Assassin, Sorcerer and Spiritmaster. The follow-up pass on April 28 adjusted it numerically rather than structurally, and the June 17, 2026 patch bumped a set of Ranger shot multipliers.
In PvP
Distance is the Ranger's defence, and the Abyss is three-dimensional, so the class is unusually exposed to anything that closes the gap vertically. The trade is that a Ranger that keeps its spacing contributes for the whole fight rather than in one window.
Shared Systems
Every class runs the same underlying loop: tab-targeting with active dodge and parry, skill chains that prompt a follow-up key, a Groggy stagger gauge on bosses, and Perfect Block or Perfect Dodge windows on a well-timed input. Loadouts hold twelve active skills, a set of Stigma slots and ten passives, allocated with Mastery Points and Stigma Shards.
Naming and Sourcing
Ability names on this page are translated from Korean patch notes for the Korean and Taiwanese live build. NCsoft has not published official English names for most individual skills, so treat any single ability name as provisional and any single number as a live-build snapshot.
