Revision 1

NCsoft has never published how AION 2 turns stats into damage. What players know comes from testing on the Korean and Taiwanese service: comparing combat logs, switching single stats on and off, and checking the results against training dummies and raid bosses. This page collects that work. Every formula and number on it is a community estimate rather than an official rule. The efficiency figures were measured at the Korean service's Chapter 1 endgame (level 50, the start of Season 1), so they will read differently on the global service, which launched on October 5, 2026 with fewer growth systems and lower stat totals.

For what each stat does according to NCsoft, see Character Stats. Where the global client's own stat descriptions confirm part of the picture, this page says so.

The Damage Formula

The most complete version of the formula that Korean-service players have tested works in this order, each step feeding the next:

1. Pure Attack (defined below) is multiplied by Weapon Damage Boost, then by the Multi-Hit and Power Shard factors.

2. Attack Bonus is added, and the total is multiplied by the Attack Increase percentage.

3. PvE Attack, Boss Attack, Species Attack and Front or Back Attack are added as flat values.

4. The result is multiplied by the skill's coefficient, and the skill's own flat additional damage is added.

5. The target's Defense, less your Penetration, is subtracted at one tenth of its value (one hundredth in PvP).

6. That figure is multiplied by your Damage Boost group: Damage Boost, PvE Damage Boost, Boss Damage Boost and Species Damage Boost added together, reduced by the target's matching tolerance.

7. Last come the separate multipliers: Critical Damage on a critical hit, double damage on a Double Chance hit, Front or Back Attack Damage Boost when the hit lands from that side, and any skill specialty enhancement.

Written as one expression: Final Damage = (A × Skill Coefficient + Skill Additional Damage - D) × B × C, where A = (Pure Attack × Weapon Damage Boost × Multi-Hit × Power Shard + Attack Bonus) × Attack Increase + PvE Attack + Boss Attack + Species Attack + Front/Back Attack; D = (Defense - Penetration) × 0.1 in PvE, or × 0.01 in PvP; B = Damage Boost + PvE Damage Boost + Boss Damage Boost + Species Damage Boost; and C = Critical Damage × Double × Front/Back Damage Boost × Skill Specialty Enhancement.

Testers treat every part of this as confirmed except the position of Multi-Hit, which may sit outside the Attack Increase step instead. Separate Korean community research reached the same overall shape: the four Damage Boost types add together into one group, Back Attack Damage Boost multiplies on its own, critical hits start at 150% damage with Critical Damage Boost added to that, and Defense comes off as a flat amount after the skill coefficient.

Damage over time follows different rules. It ignores Defense and Penetration, and critical hits, Double Chance, Perfect and Multi-Hit do not apply to it.

What Counts as Pure Attack

Pure Attack is a label players use, not an in-game stat. It is the Attack that Weapon Damage Boost multiplies directly:

• Weapon Attack

• Attack from a Guard

• Attack from accessories

• Attack lines from Soul Inscription

• Attack from Manastones and Soulstones

• The weapon appearance bonus from the Wardrobe

The Attack shown on the main stats screen leaves Weapon Damage Boost out. Players check this by removing their Weapon Damage Boost (for example by resetting the Marchutan board on the Daevanion boards) and seeing that the displayed Attack does not change. Every other kind of Attack is added later in the formula, outside the Weapon Damage Boost step, which is why it is worth less per point.

Flat Attack Stats Compared

Max Attack raises the top of the weapon's Attack range. A weapon rolling 641 to 709 becomes 641 to 729 with 20 Max Attack, which lifts the average from 675 to 685, and a Perfect hit always uses the top of the range. The global client describes Perfect as dealing increased damage based on the weapon's maximum Attack.

Stat Efficiency at the Korean Endgame

Korean-service testing at the start of Season 1 (level 50 and the first Lava Heart armor), on an optimised build with party buffs included, produced these estimates for the extra damage one more unit of each stat adds. Almost every stat has diminishing returns, so the figures depend on how much of each stat a character already has. A global character with lower totals gains more per point, and a stat that starts at 0%, such as Front/Back Attack Damage Boost, gains more from its first points than Critical Damage Boost, which starts from a base of 50% extra damage.

That gives a priority among percentage stats of Double Chance first, then Front/Back Attack Damage Boost, then Weapon Damage Boost and Critical Damage Boost at about the same value, then Damage Boost. Among flat stats it is Attack, then Max Attack, then Attack Bonus, then every other kind of Attack. Plain Damage Boost ranks lowest of the percentage stats because it is added to Boss, PvE and Species Damage Boost before it multiplies anything, so each point is a smaller share of a larger total.

Classes with their own critical damage buffs get less from Critical Damage Boost. Testers name the Gladiator's Murderous Burst, the Chanter's Wind's Promise, the Ranger's Hunter's Resolve and Bow of Blessing, the Assassin's Assault Stance and Illusive Clone, and the Cleric's Earth's Grace.

How Diminishing Returns Work

Double Chance shows the effect most clearly. A Double Chance hit deals twice the damage, so going from 0% to 1% turns 100 hits worth 100 into 101, a 1% gain. Going from 1% to 2% turns 101 into 102, which is only about 0.99% more, and each further point is a slightly smaller share of the total.

Raid bosses also resist it. Testers report that every boss from Dying Dramata's Nest onward has 30% Double Chance resistance. A character listing 80% Double Chance with about 12% more from party buffs therefore ends at about 62% against those bosses. Over 100 hits that is 162 units of damage, and one more point makes it 163, a gain of about 0.62%. Most other stats follow the same pattern.

Hit Chance: Accuracy, Block and Critical Hit

Accuracy counters the target's Block (parries and shield blocks) point for point, and Critical Hit counters Critical Hit Resist in the same way. Korean-service testing models both as a curve on the difference between the two numbers: each 100 points of difference is worth roughly 6 to 7 percent, with diminishing returns, and the chance tops out at 80% once the gap reaches about 1,200. A target with 2,000 Block facing 1,000 Accuracy would parry roughly 60 to 70 percent of hits, while Accuracy equal to the target's Block lands every hit cleanly.

The 80% ceiling matches the Korean service's own stat text, which NCsoft corrected from 50% to 80% on July 1, 2026. The global client's stat description still gives a 50% maximum Critical Hit chance, and global-service guidance treats 50% as the cap until NCsoft says otherwise.

Critical Hit increases from skills and specialties add straight onto the chance. A skill that already reaches 80% critical chance gains nothing from a specialty that raises Critical Hit, so that slot is better spent on something else.

Raid Accuracy and Critical Hit Targets

Korean-service players aim for roughly these totals so they stop missing and keep critical hits at the cap against Sanctuary bosses. The totals include every source that counts toward the check, such as PvE Accuracy and Block Penetration, so the Accuracy and Critical Hit on the main stats screen can sit below them. The figures are approximate and come from older content. No settled values exist yet for Abyssal Forge: Ludra, Normal difficulty of Chalice of Muspel, or the global service.

Defensive Stats in PvE

Defense reduces each hit by a flat amount: one tenth of the Defense left after the attacker's Penetration in PvE, and one hundredth in PvP. A 500-damage hit against 200 Defense with 100 Penetration loses 10 in PvE and 1 in PvP. Because the reduction is flat and comes off once per skill use, Penetration is a low-value stat, worth most on quick skills that hit often and least on slow, heavy ones. The global client notes that Defense cannot fall below 0.

Damage Tolerance cancels the matching Damage Boost on the attacker's side. Bosses use Damage Boost, so Damage Tolerance, Boss Damage Tolerance and PvE Damage Tolerance all reduce boss damage. Testers report that bosses do not use Front/Back Attack Damage Boost, Weapon Damage Boost, Critical Hit or Multi-Hit, so the tolerances and resistances against those stats do nothing in PvE.

Endurance gives a chance to take half damage from a hit; the global client describes it as halving the damage when it activates. Only Endurance Penetration lowers that chance, and testers report that bosses have none, so the Endurance percentage on the stat sheet is the real chance in PvE.

Combat Speed and Latency

Players treat Combat Speed as one of the strongest single stats and stack as much of it as they can, but what it delivers depends on network latency and frame rate. In Korean-service testing, a latency gap of 150 to 200 milliseconds cost a large share of damage, and the loss was similar for the Templar, Brawler and Assassin. The Spiritmaster may be an exception because its summon keeps dealing damage on its own.
