Overview
Wall Torches are wall-mounted torch decorations in the Lighting sub-category of Decorations. The game lists the piece as Decoration - Lighting, and it is the dedicated wall-mounted torch option, the cheapest lit decoration you can hang on a structure.
Like other lighting decor, a wall torch lights up automatically at night and turns off during the day. It is purely cosmetic for combat, but it does count toward your base Comfort, which is the practical reason to place at least one.

Comfort Contribution
Lighting is one of the furniture sub-categories that builds Comfort at a base. A single lit piece from the Lighting group counts once toward the score, and Comfort in turn scales the duration of the Rested buff. Because Comfort within one sub-category does not stack, a wall torch satisfies the lighting requirement just as well as a more expensive Chandelier, which makes it the budget choice for hitting a Comfort target early.

Several other Decoration - Lighting pieces are wall-mounted:

Tips
Wall Torches are the cheapest lighting option and provide good ambient atmosphere along corridors and outside walls.
Place Wall Torches along the path from your Bonfire to key stations so you can find them at night without needing a held torch.
Wall Torches do not conflict with a Painting on the same wall; place a torch on either side of a large painting for a framed-art look.
For a more historical estate look, swap Wall Torches for Wall Candlesticks.
One lit piece is enough for the Comfort bonus, so spread extra torches purely for looks; the additional copies do not raise Comfort further.
