Overview
Carpets and Rugs are flat floor textiles that cover a Floor piece and soften the look of a room. They snap to the center of a floor tile and come in multiple sizes and patterns, and each piece grants a +1 comfort bonus. They are a sub-category of Decorations.
Every rug recipe is built from woven fabric: most use Tarred Fabric, Linen Fabric, or Plant Fiber, so a working Spinning Wheel makes the whole sub-category cheap to fill out once textile production is set up.

Rugs lay flat on a Floor piece. Multiple rugs can be placed on adjacent tiles to cover a larger area, and a Carpet Runner tiles well in a hallway.
Rug pieces read as a single decoration sub-category for comfort purposes, so a single rug is enough to hit the comfort bonus. Additional rugs are for aesthetics only.
Ethnic Rug and Ethnic Carpet variants use distinct pattern work and color palettes; the plain Woven Rug is a good match for a modest hut floor. The cheapest entries use Plant Fiber, so a starter base can lay a rug long before the higher fabric tiers come online.
Tips
Place a large rug in the center of a room and anchor seating around it.
Carpet Runners work well in narrow hallways and on ramps.
Comfort +1 bonuses in a given decoration sub-category do not stack. Placing a second piece of the same sub-category does not add more comfort, it only changes the aesthetic.
Keep a small stock of fabric on hand: each rug costs only 5 units of its material, so swapping patterns later is inexpensive.
