Overview
Siberian Taimen is a large predatory fish species found in the river zones of Starsand Island. Known for its impressive size and aggressive temperament, the Siberian Taimen is one of the more valuable standard river catches at 163g per fish. It appears only during sunny winter days, which makes it a seasonal target for anglers looking to fill out their Islandpedia or earn solid income from winter fishing trips.

Rivers flow through Hopeland, Starsand Town, and neighboring regions. Any river fishing spot can produce Siberian Taimen when the season and weather conditions are met.

How to Catch
Siberian Taimen requires sunny weather in winter and only bites between 10:00 and midnight. Head to a river fishing spot, equip your fishing rod, and toss Meat Bait into the water. Meat Bait is crafted at the Chopper I station using any fish as input. Since the Taimen is a larger predatory fish, expect a moderately tough fight when reeling it in.
Watch the fishing line indicator carefully. Reel when it turns white and pause when it turns red. The Siberian Taimen puts up more resistance than smaller fish like the Pale Chub or Carp, so using a better rod like the Chrono Rod or Noble Rod will make the process smoother and reduce the risk of the line snapping.
Selling and Profit
At 163g, the Siberian Taimen is tied with the Snakehead, Mud Carp, Common Rudd, and Foureye Butterflyfish as one of the highest-priced standard catches in freshwater zones. Selling to the Merchant Ship at Starsand Port doubles this to 326g per fish. For even greater returns, process into Fish Fillet and cook high-value dishes.
Recipes Using Fish Fillet
Processing Siberian Taimen at the Separator produces Fish Fillet, a base ingredient used in many cooking recipes:
Grilled Fish (3x Fish Fillet)
Steamed Fish (4x Fish Fillet, 2x Leek)
Braised Fish (6x Fish Fillet, 2x Leek, 2x Sugar, 1x Fine Salt)
Sashimi (3x Fish Fillet, 2x Rice)
Pan Fried Dilis (3x Fish Fillet, 2x Cooking Oil)
Sauerkraut Fish (4x Fish Fillet, 2x Leek, 1x Pepper, 1x Pickled Cabbage)
Redcrest Stew (5x Fish Fillet, 2x Pepper, 1x Fine Salt, 2x Cooking Oil)
Fish Pond Breeding
Siberian Taimen has no oxygen requirement, which means it can be placed in any Fish Pond without consuming oxygen capacity. This is unusual for a fish of its value and makes it one of the most efficient pond breeding choices. You can stock multiple Siberian Taimen alongside other fish without worrying about running out of pond oxygen. Feed them daily with Fish Feed to generate eggs for hatching.
Islandpedia
Catching your first Siberian Taimen adds it to the Islandpedia Fish stamp collection. Since it only appears in winter sunny weather, it is easy to miss if you do not fish during the right conditions.
Tips
Winter sunny days are also good for catching Lungfish (237g, River, sunny winter, Veggie Bait) and Baikal Sculpin (238g, Lake, sunny winter, Veggie Bait). Plan a multi-zone fishing run on sunny winter days to hit all three.
The 10:00 start time leaves the early morning free for other activities. Use 06:00 to 10:00 for farming or mining before heading to the river.
Meat Bait is easy to produce in bulk. Keep a chest stocked with it near your fishing spots.
The zero oxygen requirement makes Siberian Taimen ideal for fish pond breeding alongside oxygen-heavy species.
Save your best Siberian Taimen catches for the Merchant Ship's weekly dock visit to earn 326g each.
