Clownfish is an iconic orange-and-white striped fish found in the Ocean zones of Starsand Island. It is one of the most beginner-friendly ocean catches in the game, available year-round in all weather conditions and accepting every bait type. While Clownfish has the lowest sell price among ocean fish at just 50 Coins, its reliability makes it a staple for new players learning the fishing system and a convenient source of Fish Fillet and Minced Fish Bait.
Cast your line from any coastal shoreline around the island. Clownfish bite from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM, in every season and every weather condition. You can use any bait type: Bug Bait, Veggie Bait, or Meat Bait. This makes Clownfish the easiest ocean fish to catch, since you never need to worry about having the right bait, waiting for the right season, or checking the weather forecast.
New players can start catching Clownfish as soon as they receive their first Fishing Rod from Delphin at AquaBlue Outpost.

Cooking: Process Clownfish into Fish Fillet at the Separator. Any fish works for producing fillet, and Clownfish is the easiest to stockpile. Use fillet in cooking recipes like Grilled Fish and Fish Head Tofu Soup.
Bait Production: Clownfish is one of the best candidates for making Minced Fish Bait at the Chopper. Since it is easy to catch in bulk, you can convert surplus Clownfish into bait for deep-sea fishing zones.
Fish Pond: Place Clownfish in a Fish Pond for breeding and display. A good starter fish for your first pond.
Gifting: Some NPCs accept fish as gifts.
Islandpedia: First catch registers in your Islandpedia stamp collection.
Clownfish is the go-to species for bulk Minced Fish Bait production. Catch a stack of them and run them through the Chopper before heading to the Coral Sea.
Do not bother selling raw Clownfish for profit. At 50 Coins, even the Merchant Ship only pays 100 Coins. Cook it into dishes first for a better return.
Clownfish is the only ocean fish available in all four seasons and all weather. If you need quick fish for any purpose and the ocean is nearby, Clownfish is always there.
When starting the Angler Profession questline, prioritize catching Clownfish first. It builds fishing XP with minimal effort.
