Overview
MISS stands for Maid Institute, Society, and Services. It is an organization operating within Silvernia in Silver Palace, supplying trained household staff to clients across the city. The domestic framing is genuine but incomplete: its members are armed, trained for combat, and routinely accompany the people they serve into danger.
The organization is not maids only. The game files its playable members by the role each one works rather than under a single job title, listing Argos as a bartender and Alf as a maid, and beta-build quest text names former MISS butlers as well. Household service, not the maid uniform, is the common thread.
Known Members
Four members and former members have been documented so far. The two playable characters are covered in published material; the two bounty-side figures come from beta-build quest text.
Member | Role | Standing | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Maid | Active, Maid No. 49 | Assigned to the Detective as a personal maid and fights alongside them | |
Bartender | Former member | Left to run a bar on Morgue Street; still filed under MISS in the character index | |
The Vanquisher | Butler | Former member | A firearms specialist who left the organization and now seeks opponents; a bounty target rather than a companion |
The Retired Butler | Butler | Former member | Posts the bounty on the Vanquisher after being pressed into service as a sparring partner |
Membership and Numbering
Members carry numerical designations. Alf is Maid No. 49, which implies a roster of at least that size, though no headcount has been published and the numbering scheme has not been explained. Argos's departure shows that membership is not lifelong and that former members keep their association in the public eye, since the character index still groups them with the organization.
Services
MISS provides domestic service to clients in Silvernia. Alf is assigned to the Detective and handles the household work at their residence above the agency. In practice the role runs closer to bodyguard and assistant than to traditional household staff, since members accompany their clients on investigations and into combat.
Combat Capability
Members are armed and trained. Alf carries a lever-action shotgun with a flamethrower attachment fed by a back-mounted Reactor converter, and Argos wields a cane sword. The contrast between the service uniform and the weaponry is played for both humour and narrative interest, and Alf's combat proficiency is especially striking given how little common sense she shows in domestic matters.
Insignia in the Economy
MISS insignia exist as objects in the world rather than only as a plot device. An intern maid nameplate appears among the character advancement materials stocked by the beta build's shops, priced in Ounces alongside other salvaged trade goods. Its presence in a materials list suggests an intake tier below the numbered members, though nothing has been published about how the organization recruits.
Role in the Story
The Detective works alongside MISS members throughout the build. Alf is a combat companion during commissions, and other members appear as quest-givers and bounty targets. The organization's spread across Silvernia's districts means its people turn up in a wide range of situations, supplying both assistance and information.
Open Questions
Several things about MISS remain unclear from available materials. Who founded the organization? Why are its members trained for combat? Is MISS politically neutral, or does it align with specific factions in Silvernia? No official material describes the organization directly, and everything above is assembled from individual character affiliations and quest text. These questions may be addressed in the full game's story or in character-specific quests.
