Major expansion: floor-by-floor skyscraper breakdown with exact materials, Tinkgear rate corrected to 1:3, Concrete recipe (1 Limestone = 4 Concrete), material sources table, construction time (1hr per floor), NPC recruitment requirements, Oversized Dumping Ground habitat name
Tinkmaster is a unique variant of Tinkaton and one of the Special Pokemon exclusive to Pokemon Pokopia. She is the only Pokemon with the Engineer specialty, making her essential for late-game construction and the main quest in Sparkling Skylands. Tinkmaster leads the reconstruction of the former Celadon Department Store, the game's largest building project, and produces Tinkgears, a critical late-game crafting material.
Tinkmaster is visually distinct from a standard Tinkaton. Her hammer is a multi-purpose engineering tool equipped for construction rather than the scrap-metal bludgeon that regular Tinkaton carries. She also has a different hairstyle from the standard species. These design choices reflect her role as a master builder and engineer. Like other Special Pokemon in Pokopia (such as Professor Tangrowth, Peakychu, and Chef Dente), Tinkmaster is a one-of-a-kind character that cannot be found in any other Pokemon game.
Tinkmaster lives on a separate island in Sparkling Skylands, perched at the top of a tall tower. Reaching her requires the Glide ability, which is learned from Dragonite earlier in the Sparkling Skylands storyline. Players need to glide from a high point to reach the tower island, then climb to the top to meet Tinkmaster. Her habitat is called the Oversized Dumping Ground.
The Engineer specialty is unique to Tinkmaster and separate from the standard Build specialty. While Build-specialty Pokemon (like Timburr, Gurdurr, Cubone, and Pinsir) handle regular construction projects, the Engineer specialty offers three distinct capabilities:
Tinkmaster can captain large building projects that are too complex for regular Build Pokemon. This includes the skyscraper reconstruction and other major structures in Sparkling Skylands. She must be assigned as the first Pokemon at a building site for major projects.
When Tinkmaster is assigned as the leader at any building project, construction time is shortened. This applies to houses, Pokemon Centers, and other structures. She must be the first Pokemon assigned to the site for the speed bonus to activate. Other Build-specialty Pokemon can then be added to further assist.
Tinkmaster converts Iron Ingots into Tinkgears, a specialized crafting material. Give Tinkmaster an Iron Ingot and she will process it into Tinkgears at a ratio of 1 Iron Ingot = 3 Tinkgears. This is the only way to obtain Tinkgears in the game.
Tinkgears are a special material produced exclusively by Tinkmaster. They are required for several late-game recipes and structures.
Obtain Iron Ore from Rocky Ridges (requires powered-up Rock Smash via eating Hamburger Steak).
Smelt Iron Ore into Iron Ingots at a Smelting Furnace with a Burn-specialty Pokemon (Charmander, Torchic, etc.).
Give the Iron Ingots to Tinkmaster. Each ingot yields 3 Tinkgears.
Item | Tinkgears Required | Other Materials |
|---|---|---|
Lift Platform | 1 | 5 Concrete, 5 Iron Ingots |
Team Initiation Challenge (Stage delivery) | 5 | Part of the overall challenge |
Lift Platforms are vertical travel devices that let the player move between different island elevations in Sparkling Skylands. They are essential for reaching areas that cannot be accessed by Glide alone.
When first meeting Tinkmaster at the top of the tower, she has an initial request before she will begin working. Players must deliver:
6 Concrete
1 Iron Ingot
Concrete is crafted at a Concrete Mixer using Limestone, processed by a Pokemon with the Crush specialty (such as Onix or Pawmo). Limestone is found in Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands. One Limestone yields 4 Concrete when processed by a Crush-specialty Pokemon.
Completing this initial delivery unlocks the Lift Platform recipe at the workbench and activates Tinkgear production. From this point, Tinkmaster becomes one of the most important NPCs for the rest of the game.
Tinkmaster's primary story role is leading the reconstruction of the former Celadon Department Store in Sparkling Skylands. The Rebuild the Huge Building Important Request involves constructing the skyscraper floor by floor under her guidance. Each floor takes approximately one real-time hour to build after materials are delivered.
Floor | Materials Required | Pokemon Required |
|---|---|---|
2nd Floor | 25 Concrete, 10 Glass, 5 Pokemetal, 10 Iron Ingots | Tinkmaster + 5 other Pokemon |
3rd Floor | 25 Concrete, 10 Glass, 10 Glowing Stone, 15 Copper Ingots | Tinkmaster + Chef Dente + 6 other Pokemon |
4th Floor (Final) | 40 Concrete, 15 Glass, 10 Paper, 10 Bricks, 20 Lumber | Tinkmaster + Chef Dente + Peakychu + 5 other Pokemon |
Material | How to Obtain |
|---|---|
Concrete | Limestone processed by Crush-specialty Pokemon (1 Limestone = 4 Concrete) |
Glass | Breaking windows, or smelting Volcanic Ash with a Fire-type Pokemon |
Mining deposits near waterfalls in Sparkling Skylands | |
Iron Ingots | Iron Ore smelted at Smelting Furnace |
Glowing Stone | Breaking black and rainbow-colored blocks inside Rocky Ridges volcano (requires Strength) |
Copper Ingots | Copper Ore smelted (found near mine entrance in Rocky Ridges) |
Bricks | Squishy Clay processed by Burn-specialty Pokemon (Combusken, Vulpix) |
Paper | Recycle-specialty Pokemon converting Wastepaper (Trubbish, Garbodor) |
The 3rd and 4th floors require bringing back Chef Dente from Rocky Ridges and Peakychu from Bleak Beach respectively. These NPCs must be recruited to Sparkling Skylands before the corresponding floor can be built.
After completing all three construction floors, the skyscraper has a functional elevator. Riding it to the rooftop triggers an encounter with Mewtwo, the Legendary Psychic-type Pokemon. This encounter also raises the player's Trainer Rank to Master, which is the highest rank in the game and triggers the end credits after completing the Team Initiation Challenge.
Stockpile Iron Ingots before arriving in Sparkling Skylands. You will need large quantities for both Tinkgear production and skyscraper materials.
Set up a smelting station near your mining spot in Rocky Ridges with a Smelting Furnace, Storage Box, and Burn-specialty Pokemon.
Start collecting Limestone and making Concrete early. The skyscraper requires 90 Concrete across all three floors.
Assign Tinkmaster first to any building project for the speed bonus, then add other Build-specialty Pokemon after.
Glowing Stone is only available from specific blocks inside the Rocky Ridges volcano. Use Strength to solve the block puzzles and access these deposits.
Each floor takes about one real-time hour to complete after delivering all materials. Plan accordingly.
