Castle Plaza is the central public square of the Old Town area in Melino, the launch town of Paralives. Classified as a park, it is the large open area in front of the town's former castle, a small fortified structure built when the city was first established many centuries ago. The plaza is the social and event heart of Old Town. See Town Venues and Town Districts for the wider layout.
Layout
The plaza is split into two sections. The southern section is a large paved space centered on a giant tree surrounded by benches, with fairy lights permanently hung on the tree. It also holds several vending machines, phone booths, newspaper dispensers, bike racks, and a gazebo. The northern section features several picnic tables and a zipline landing platform. Cannons are placed along the edge of the plaza, and decorative train tracks run along its western border. A bridge over the former moat connects the plaza to the main mountain road.
What Parafolk Do Here
Castle Plaza is one of the most activity-dense public spaces in the launch build. A Parafolk can use several free interactions here.
Activity | Notes |
|---|---|
Piano in the gazebo | Practice the Piano skill at no cost; ties into Skills and Knowledge |
Meli-Melo tables | Three tables for playing the in-game Meli-Melo game and socializing |
Hopscotch | Available near the High School entrance |
Benches and picnic tables | Seating across both sections of the plaza |
Town Events
The plaza hosts three of the town's scheduled Town Events, all of which are completely free to attend: an Outdoor Cinema, the weekly Buried Treasure hunt, and the Weekend Market. The castle exterior in particular is part of the area covered by the Buried Treasure hunt, and the Weekend Market sets up stalls in the plaza. The full weekly schedule lives on the Town Events page.
Connectivity
Castle Plaza is a hub for the surrounding Old Town venues. It is an access point to the Town Hall and Library and the High School, and it leads toward the Museum and the Community Center. Two bus stops serve it: stop P at the front and stop B at the back entrance, both on the PL130 line; see Bus Stops and Transportation. The zipline landing platform in the northern section connects the plaza to the Mountain area; the zipline traversal itself is documented on the Mountain Lookout page.
