Hermit Pathway
September 13, 2026 at 10:10 PM
Refresh against the official Mystery Pryer guide revised 2026-08-27: 智者 is named alongside 学者 in 3v3 and 6v6 rather than instead of it, and the sealed artifacts now differ in all three slots between PvE (公证书, 绿华, 深红月冕) and PvP (丧钟, 月亮纸人, 无瞳的将军). Corrects the false claim that this is the only Pathway with a single PvE talent recommendation, and records that 正义钱包 and 血之花 are not in the current guide.

The Hermit Pathway (隐者途径) is entered as the Sequence 9 Mystery Pryer (窥秘人), and this wiki files it under the deity name at the top of the ladder while the game leads with the entry rank. It is one of the six Pathways playable in Lord of Mysteries from the Mainland China launch on August 21, 2026.
Official copy describes the Mystery Pryer as a mage of exceptionally high spirituality (灵性极高的法师) whose contribution in a group is ranged damage and control (远程输出和控制). The class tagline reads 窥探隐秘,解析知识,以智慧之焰点燃灵性 (pry into what is hidden, take knowledge apart, light spirituality with the flame of wisdom).
It sits on the magic side of the game's damage split, in 魔法途径 alongside the Apprentice and the Spectator, so Wisdom (智慧) rather than Strength (力量) drives its bonus skill enhancement.
Community guides through launch week consistently placed the Mystery Pryer at or near the top of solo and dungeon clear rankings on the strength of its area damage, though those are player rankings rather than published tuning data and will move with patches.
Every launch Pathway carries two freely switchable talents (双天赋). The Mystery Pryer's pair divides by scale: 学者 (Scholar) is the only talent recommended for PvE and is the pick for the large PvP brackets, while 智者 (Sage) is offered alongside Scholar in the small brackets.
Talent | CN | Where it is recommended |
|---|---|---|
Scholar | 学者 | All PvE content, every PvP bracket, and the sole recommendation in 12v12 and GvG |
Sage | 智者 | 3v3 and 6v6, named alongside Scholar rather than instead of it |
The studio's own Mystery Pryer guide, revised on August 27, 2026, names 学者 alone for PvE. Three of the six launch Pathways do the same, so this is not a Mystery Pryer peculiarity; an earlier version of this article said it was.
Six named skills are documented at launch, the smallest count of the six Pathways: 知识逐人 (Knowledge Pursues the Man), 光之折射 (Refraction of Light), 星沙 (Star Sand), 岁月的棋局 (Chessboard of Years), 皇帝的新衣 (The Emperor's New Clothes) and 窥秘之眼 (Eye of Mystery Prying).
Context | Talent | Skills | Attack artifact | Defence artifact | Universal artifact |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
PvE | 学者 Scholar | 知识逐人, 光之折射, 星沙, 岁月的棋局 | 公证书 Notarial Certificate | 绿华 Green Splendour | 深红月冕 Crimson Moon Crown |
PvP, 12v12 and GvG | 学者 Scholar | 知识逐人, 光之折射, 星沙, 岁月的棋局 | 丧钟 Death Knell | 月亮纸人 Moon Paper Figure | 无瞳的将军 The Pupilless General |
PvP, 3v3 and 6v6 | 智者 Sage | 光之折射, 皇帝的新衣, 窥秘之眼, 岁月的棋局 | 丧钟 Death Knell | 月亮纸人 Moon Paper Figure | 无瞳的将军 The Pupilless General |
The Scholar skill list is identical in PvE and PvP; the sealed artifacts are not. All three slots change between the two, from 公证书, 绿华 and 深红月冕 to 丧钟, 月亮纸人 and 无瞳的将军. An earlier version of this article recorded 丧钟, 正义钱包 (Justice's Wallet), 血之花 (Blood Flower) and 深红月冕 across these rows and said only the defensive slot moved. 正义钱包 and 血之花 do not appear in the current Mystery Pryer guide, and 丧钟 and 深红月冕 do not appear on the sides this article had put them on.
The Hermit Pathway has 10 Sequences from Sequence 9 (entry) to Sequence 0 (god-tier). Sequence names borrow from scholarly, occult, and prophetic archetypes.
The full Sequence ladder below is drawn from the source material. The launch client has published the entry rank and the day-one advancement only; the higher Sequences and the abilities attached to them here have not been shown in the live build and are documented as source-material reference.
Sequence 9: Mystery Pryer (also rendered Prying Spymaster). The occult-knowledge entry rank.
Sequence 8: Combat Scholar. The combat-techniques learning tier.
Sequence 7: Wizard (also rendered Sorcerer). The element-spell tier.
Sequence 6: Scroll Professor. The scroll-magic tier.
Sequence 5: Astrologer. The astral-and-star-power tier.
Sequence 4: Mystic (also rendered Occult Scholar). The deep-mysticism tier.
Sequence 3: Prophet. The divination-and-foresight tier.
Sequence 2: Sage. The wisdom-and-counsel tier.
Sequence 1: Knowledge Emperor. The penultimate Sequence; near-godhood.
Sequence 0: Hermit. The Pathway's deity.
The launch client opens the Pathway at Sequence 9 Mystery Pryer. The documented opening schedule places the first Sequence advancement on day one and caps potion digestion at 20 percent that day. The launch Sequence ceiling has not been published, and nothing above Sequence 9 is confirmed reachable inside the documented ten-day opening schedule.
For historical reference: the February 2026 Crimson Test capped Mystery Pryer progression at the lower Sequences.
The signature ability of Sequence 9 is Mystery Prying (侦测): the Beyonder reads an enemy's secret as a kind of Knowledge, revealing specialities, the nature of an opponent's abilities, and arrangements hidden in the environment. Out of combat it surfaces footprints nobody else can see, hidden runes, and patterns etched into walls.
Mystery Pryers also possess the Eyes of Mystery Prying: their eyes let them see what is normally invisible, see through attempts to trap them in dreams or illusions, read truth from reality, and discern the light of Spirituality and the state of a target's Astral Body. In combat terms this becomes a class identity built on enemy-weakness reads, mark-and-burst rotations, and counter-illusion utility.
Strengths: strong area damage, control tools, high spirituality scaling, and unique counter-illusion utility. Weaknesses: kit complexity and a squishy profile in melee range. The Pathway suits players who like wizard or investigator archetypes.
The Mystery Pryer's Acting Archetype is the secretive truth-seeker: curious, patient, drawn to hidden knowledge. Acting checks favour:
Picking dialogue options that ask probing questions and pursue deeper context.
Completing occult-research side activities (library research desks, archive cataloguing, anomaly investigation interviews).
Reading scrolls and tomes during free-time activities.
Carrying a Mystery Pryer-tier reading prop (a magnifier, a tome) in the free-equip slot.
Opening combat with an eye-of-prying scan; reading the enemy's weakness before engaging scores significant Acting.
Mystery Pryer-Pathway Beyonders work as scholars, occult investigators, archive researchers, and anomaly analysts. The Pathway is closely tied to the Moses Ascetic Order and to scholarly Beyonder networks; many high-Sequence Hermits operate as advisors to royal courts and intelligence services. Source material describes the Pathway as chased by a large amount of knowledge that the Beyonder cannot fully reject, an in-fiction note that translates to a knowledge-meter system in play.
Always open with the prying read. Reading the enemy's weakness before starting a damage rotation is both mechanically and Acting optimal.
Take 学者 unless you are queuing for a small arena. It is the recommended pick everywhere except 3v3 and 6v6.
Stack Acting via reading rooms. Multiple Tingen libraries reward consistent reading and cataloguing as Acting boosters.
Build for ability variety. The kit rewards rotating abilities through the cooldown wheel rather than spamming one.
Coordinate with the Seer Pathway. Both are knowledge-leaning damage lines, and mixed parties of Seer and Mystery Pryer scale well thanks to overlapping divination-and-knowledge synergies.
