Overview
The Hermit Pathway (also called the Mystery Pryer Pathway after its Sequence 9 entry rank) is one of the six publicly confirmed Pathways available in the Crimson Test of Lord of Mysteries. It is a knowledge-leaning damage Pathway with a strong divination, occult-research, and reality-piercing identity. Source material associates the Pathway with the Moses Ascetic Order and Queen Mystic Bernadette.
Sequence ladder
The Hermit Pathway has 10 Sequences from Sequence 9 (entry) to Sequence 0 (god-tier). Sequence names borrow from scholarly, occult, and prophetic archetypes.

Crimson Test reach
The Crimson Test caps Hermit Pathway progression at the lower Sequences. Sequence 9 Mystery Pryer is the entry rank for testers picking the Pathway at character creation.
Combat identity and signature ability
The Mystery Pryer is a knowledge-and-vision damage Pathway. The signature ability of Sequence 9 is Mystery Prying: the Beyonder can determine an enemy's secret as a kind of Knowledge, telling the specialties of their enemies, the nature of their abilities, and arrangements within the environment.
Mystery Pryers also possess the Eyes of Mystery Prying: their eyes are special and let them see things normally invisible, peer through attempts to trap them in Dreams or Illusions, see truth and reality, and discern the light of Spirituality and the state of a target's Astral Body. In an MMO combat context, this translates to a class identity built around enemy-weakness reads, mark-and-burst rotations, and counter-illusion utility.
Strengths: high single-target damage when enemy weakness is read, strong scaling with mid-Sequence ability unlocks (Wizard, Scroll Professor), unique counter-illusion utility. Weaknesses: kit complexity, dependent on knowledge-meter management, limited in straight-up melee. Recommended to players who like 'wizard' or 'investigator' archetypes; the Mystery Pryer rewards thoughtful play and is the most knowledge-leaning damage Pathway in the test.
Acting Archetype
The Mystery Pryer's Acting Archetype is the secretive truth-seeker: curious, patient, drawn to hidden knowledge. Acting checks favour:
Picking dialogue options that ask probing questions and pursue deeper context.
Completing occult-research side activities (library research desks, archive cataloguing, anomaly-investigation interviews).
Reading scrolls and tomes during free-time activities.
Carrying a Mystery Pryer-tier reading prop (a magnifier, a tome) in the free-equip slot.
Opening combat with an eye-of-prying scan; reading the enemy's weakness before engaging scores significant Acting.
Pathway role in the world
Mystery Pryer-Pathway Beyonders work as scholars, occult investigators, archive researchers, and anomaly analysts. The Pathway is closely tied to the Moses Ascetic Order and to scholarly Beyonder networks; many high-Sequence Hermits operate as advisors to royal courts and intelligence services. Source material describes the Pathway as 'chased by a large amount of knowledge' that the Beyonder cannot fully reject, an in-fiction note that translates to a knowledge-meter system in-game.
Tips for new players
Always open with eye-of-prying. Reading the enemy's weakness before opening damage rotation is mechanically optimal and Acting-optimal.
Stack Acting via reading rooms. Multiple Tingen libraries reward consistent reading-and-cataloguing as Acting boosters.
Build for ability variety. The Mystery Pryer kit rewards rotating multiple abilities through the cooldown wheel rather than spamming a single ability.
Coordinate with the Seer Pathway. Both Pathways are knowledge-leaning damage; mixed parties of Seer + Mystery Pryer scale exceptionally well thanks to overlapping divination-and-knowledge synergies.
