Zois

Zois are the characters players create and control in inZOI. The name comes from the Greek word zoi, meaning "life." Each Zoi has their own traits, needs, skills, and personality that shapes how they behave when left to their own devices.
Players manage households of up to 8 Zois, guiding them through education, careers, relationships, and daily life. Zois age through 9 distinct life stages, from Newborn to Senior, and their choices accumulate into a karma score that determines what happens after death.
Zois handle basic survival tasks on their own -- eating, sleeping, using the bathroom -- but they sometimes skip meals or sleep too much. Players can toggle autonomy on or off by pressing [T] or clicking the Autonomy switch next to the Needs icon. Turning autonomy off gives full manual control, which is useful for orchestrating specific actions or, less charitably, for trapping Zois in rooms without food.
Psycat is the in-game tutorial companion, a cat-shaped guide that appears in the bottom-left corner. It walks new players through the interface and provides an Emergency Rescue button for stuck Zois. If a Zoi gets lodged in geometry or trapped somewhere they shouldn't be, clicking Emergency Rescue teleports them to a safe location.
Players can invite other Zois to hang out by pressing [R] to open the Relationships panel, selecting a Zoi, and choosing "Call Over." Clicking a specific map location lets you call them directly to that spot.
The Interaction Queue displays a Zoi's upcoming actions as icons. Hover over any icon for details, drag icons to reorder them, or click X to cancel. The panel itself can be repositioned by dragging.
The Time Panel in the bottom-left controls game speed. Press 0 to pause, 1 for 1x (slow), 2 for 1.5x (normal), 3 for 3x (fast), or 4 for 5x (very fast). One in-game Zoi Day lasts 96 real-world minutes at default speed.
Clicking another Zoi and selecting Zoi Profile shows the full relationship history. Important milestones like breakups and divorces are stored in Shared Memories. Conversations marked with key icons reveal hidden information about a Zoi's background, but asking personal questions too soon can backfire.
Players can send gifts through the Contacts app on the Smartphone. The gift arrives at the recipient's home as a parcel.
