Pacifist is one of 18 traits in inZOI. It belongs to the Gentle and Just category. Traits are chosen during character creation and cannot be changed afterward. The single trait shapes how the Zoi behaves autonomously, which emotions they lean toward, how quickly their needs decay, and how they interact with other Zois.
Pacifists shine when they avoid conflict and maintain harmony. They build warm, caring relationships and gravitate toward situations where everyone gets along. Pacifist Zois excel in family-focused gameplay and as community connectors who smooth over friction between other Zois.
Pacifist was introduced in the v0.4.0 update (October 30, 2025) as part of the mentality system overhaul.
The Pacifist trait replaces the older Mediator trait. Existing save files with the Mediator trait had it automatically converted to Pacifist when the v0.4.0 update was applied. The replacement is a thematic shift, not a one-to-one carryover; Pacifist fills a related but distinct slot in the mentality framework.

Pacifists shine when they avoid conflict and maintain harmony. They build warm, caring relationships and gravitate toward situations where everyone gets along. Pacifist Zois excel in family-focused gameplay and as community connectors who smooth over friction between other Zois.
Pacifist shares the Gentle and Just category with Innovator and Idealist.
Pacifist replaces Mediator from the pre-v0.4.0 framework. While the role is similar (peace-oriented relationship building), the categorization moved from Calm and Tranquil to Gentle and Just.
The v0.4.0 update unified traits, characteristics, ambitions, and urges into a single cohesive personality framework. The trait sets the foundational personality, while characteristics layer on as secondary modifiers, ambitions provide long-term goals, and urges drive moment-to-moment autonomous decisions.
As a v0.4.0+ trait, Pacifist works within this unified framework. It influences which urges surface, which emotions are felt more often or persist longer, and which Desired Lives align with the Zoi's natural inclinations.
To select Pacifist, choose it from the trait list during Create a Zoi. Each Zoi has one trait that cannot be changed after creation, so consider how the trait will shape long-term gameplay before committing.
Players who used the older Mediator trait in pre-v0.4.0 saves had their existing Zois automatically converted to Pacifist when applying the update. The conversion is permanent; there is no option to revert to the older trait.
Pacifist works best with traits that share its harmonious tone or complement its warmth with a grounding influence. The combinations below produce some of the most consistent family-and-community Zois.
Trait | Why It Pairs Well |
|---|---|
Same Gentle and Just category. Innovator's calm-curious autonomy reinforces Pacifist's preference for harmony. | |
Same category. Idealist's principle-driven autonomy and Pacifist's conflict avoidance combine into the model community-builder profile. | |
Empath | Empathy raises emotional reading; Pacifist supplies the de-escalation impulse. Strong family-life pairing. |
Caregiver | Pacifist plus Caregiver excels at parenting heavy gameplay. The Zoi defuses sibling rivalry and mediates between parents. |
Family-track ambitions reward Pacifist's natural orientation toward warm relationships.
Community and relationship-building ambitions are a strong fit; conflict-avoidance autonomy boosts long-friendship maintenance scores.
Avoid pairing with confrontation-heavy ambitions (rival-collecting, criminal). The autonomy and the ambition will fight each other.
Higher chance of choosing calming or de-escalation social interactions during arguments witnessed by the Zoi.
Reduced frequency of the Angry mood; emotional triggers that produce Angry in other traits often resolve to Stressed or Sad in a Pacifist.
Faster decay of negative-mood durations after the source of conflict has resolved; the Zoi recovers to baseline warmth quickly.
Slightly faster Friendship gain in family-side relationships, especially across life stages boundaries (parent-child, grandparent-grandchild).
Yes mechanically, but with an autonomy preference for de-escalation. Player input still drives explicit fight choices; Pacifists do not refuse to participate, but during free-will autonomy they overwhelmingly choose calming interactions over aggressive ones.
The trait does not block any career, but autonomy and crime-track ambitions clash. A Pacifist working a crime career relies entirely on player-directed actions; free-will autonomy will keep choosing the lawful or peaceful option.
