Diving and Snorkeling
March 11, 2026 at 07:56 AM
Initial version
Diving and snorkeling are aquatic activities introduced with the Island Getaway DLC in the Cahaya island region. These activities let Zois explore underwater environments, encounter marine life, and discover hidden locations beneath the waves. Diving requires proper gear and swimming skill proficiency before it becomes available.
Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
Location | Cahaya coastal waters (all three islands) |
Gear | Diving gear must be purchased before diving |
Skill | Swimming proficiency must be built up through practice |
Age | Teenager or older |
To begin diving, Zois first need to purchase diving gear from shops in Cahaya. Before deep diving, they should build up their swimming ability by spending time in shallow water. Snorkeling is the entry-level water activity, allowing Zois to float on the surface and observe underwater life from above.
The waters around Cahaya host a diverse ecosystem of marine creatures. Encounters are procedural, meaning different species appear depending on location and time.
Creature | Behavior |
|---|---|
Sea Turtles | Gentle, swim alongside divers |
Dolphins | Playful, may interact with nearby Zois |
Sharks | Can be dangerous, patrol deeper waters |
Jellyfish | Float in groups, contact causes discomfort |
Tropical Fish | Schools of colorful reef fish |
Coral Formations | Static but visually diverse reef structures |
Divers can discover several underwater points of interest:
Coral reef ecosystems with diverse fish populations
Ancient submerged temples with architectural remnants
Kelp forests with hidden sea life
Rocky outcroppings and cave formations
The Deserted Island coastline offers some of the most pristine diving spots with less boat traffic than the main island.
Build swimming skill in pools or shallow water before attempting deep dives.
Watch out for sharks in deeper areas. They can cause injury.
Snorkeling is available without full diving gear and still shows marine life from the surface.
The Turtle Nestwatcher career in Cahaya ties into marine conservation and works well with diving activities.
