Major expansion: added business type details, preset system, employee management, Business App, operating mechanics, profitability tips.
Business ownership was introduced in the v0.5.0 update (December 2025), allowing Zois to open and run their own establishments. From cozy cafes to bustling restaurants, running a business requires active management of employees, finances, recipes, and customer flow. The system adds a new layer to the Meow and Economy and provides an alternative to traditional Jobs and Careers.
To open a business, a Zoi needs a Lot designated as a commercial space. Set up the physical space in Build Mode with the necessary furniture and equipment for your chosen business type. The game provides business presets that automatically configure a management environment suited to each establishment type.
Different presets configure the management environment for various establishment types:
Business Type | Default Activities | Key Equipment |
|---|---|---|
Cafe | Drink Coffee, Eat, Read a Book | Coffee machine, tables, display counter |
Bakery | Order, Eat, Browse | Oven, display cases, sales counter |
Restaurant | Order, Drink a Beverage, Dine | Kitchen setup, dining tables, bar |
Bar | Order Drinks, Socialize, Listen to Music | Bar counter, drink mixing station, seating |
Each preset automatically sets activities to match the establishment's needs. Players can customize these presets or create entirely custom business configurations.
Business management happens through several interface tabs and the Business App on the Smartphone:
Management Area | Controls |
|---|---|
Business Hours | Set operating days and hours for the establishment |
Recipe Tab | Configure what items are available for sale |
Player Settings | Set customer activities and target customer profiles |
Employee Management | Hire employees, set wages, assign roles |
Financial Overview | Track income, expenses, and profit margins |
Running a successful business requires hiring and managing employees. Key aspects include:
Hiring employees through the Business App
Setting competitive wages to attract and retain staff
Assigning roles appropriate to the business type
Managing employee schedules to align with business hours
Restocking items on the sales counter during and outside business hours
A single household can own and operate multiple businesses simultaneously. Each business is managed independently through the Business App. However, running multiple establishments requires careful time management, as each business needs attention to maintain profitability.
The Baking Skill was introduced alongside the business system. Bakery and cafe owners benefit from leveling up this skill, which unlocks new recipes and improves the quality of baked goods. Higher-quality items attract more customers and command better prices.
