Art Skill

Art is one of the 27 skills available in inZOI. It governs a Zoi's ability to create visual artwork, from simple doodles at a table to elaborate paintings on an easel or large-scale murals on city walls. Art is available to Zois from the Teenager age group onward through Elder. As the skill levels up, new painting styles unlock and the monetary value of finished pieces increases dramatically, making Art one of the most profitable creative skills in the game.
Paintings created through the Art skill can be sold on the Pocket Market for Meow (the in-game currency), displayed in a Zoi's home as decorations, or appreciated by other Zois to boost their mood. The skill also connects to the Great Painter ambition, which requires reaching high Art proficiency and completing a series of painting milestones.
The simplest way to begin developing the Art skill is to purchase an Easel from Build Mode and place it on your Zoi's lot. Interacting with the easel gives you the option to select a painting style and canvas size. Your Zoi will then work at the easel until the painting is finished, gaining Art experience throughout the process.
If you do not have an easel yet, your Zoi can also doodle at any table. Doodling is slower for skill gains than easel painting but requires no special furniture and can be done almost anywhere, including restaurants and public lots. It is a good low-commitment way to start building the skill early in the game.
Another option is to read Art books from a bookshelf. Standard Art books take about 30 in-game minutes to read and grant a small skill boost plus the +1 Inspired moodlet. Reading is less efficient than painting for raw experience but can supplement your training when your Zoi needs a break from the easel.
Painting on an Easel — The primary and most efficient method. Your Zoi paints a canvas of the selected style and size, earning experience based on the painting's complexity and the time spent.
Doodling at a Table — Available without any special furniture. Lower experience gain than easel painting, but can be done anywhere there is a table.
Painting Murals — Mural spaces are scattered around Dowon and Bliss Bay. Look for locations marked with a white spray can icon on the map. Your Zoi paints directly on the wall, which also provides a social element since other Zois may stop to watch or chat.
Street Art and Graffiti — Street Art Spaces work similarly to murals but are usually found on the ground rather than on walls. In Dowon, look near Harang River West and Clover Park for accessible spots.
Appreciating Art — Visiting the Narim Art Gallery in Dowon or viewing paintings in another Zoi's home provides a small Art skill boost. This is a passive method but still counts toward progression.
Reading Art Books — Select an art-related book from a bookshelf. Each book takes about 30 minutes and gives consistent experience at roughly 4 hours per level if used exclusively.
The Art skill progresses through 10 levels. At key level thresholds, new painting styles unlock. Each style can be painted in three canvas sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.
Level 1: Still Life (Small, Medium, Large) — Simple compositions of objects like fruit bowls and flowers. The starting style for every aspiring artist.
Level 2: Portrait (Small, Medium, Large) — Paintings of Zoi faces. These look better as your skill improves, with higher-level portraits showing more refined details.
Level 4: Landscape Painting (Small, Medium, Large) — Scenic vistas of the in-game world. A popular choice for decorating homes.
Level 6: Pop Art (Small, Medium, Large) — Bold, colorful pieces with a distinctly modern style.
Level 8: Abstract Art and Surrealism (Small, Medium, Large) — The most complex and highest-value styles. These command premium prices on the Pocket Market.
How long a painting takes to complete depends on both the canvas size and your current Art level. A patch in December 2025 significantly reduced painting times across the board:
Levels 0–3: Approximately 70 minutes for Medium or Large canvases; about 40 minutes for Small.
Levels 4–7: Approximately 46 minutes for Medium or Large; about 30 minutes for Small.
Levels 8–10: Approximately 26 minutes for Medium or Large; about 16 minutes for Small.
The dramatic reduction in time at higher levels means a Level 10 artist can produce multiple high-value paintings in a single in-game day, making late-game Art extremely productive.
Every finished painting receives a quality rating that directly determines its base value. Four quality tiers exist:
Medium Quality: Base value of 48–52 Meow depending on canvas size. Common at lower skill levels.
Good Quality: Base value of 160–175 Meow. Achievable regularly from around Level 3 onward.
Excellent Quality: Base value of 800–875 Meow. Becomes more frequent at Level 6 and above.
Perfect Quality: Base value of 3,200–3,500 Meow. First appears at Level 9 and becomes more common at Level 10.
Canvas size has a relatively small impact on price — Large paintings are only about 9–10% more valuable than Small paintings of the same quality tier. Quality matters far more than dimensions for earning Meow.
To sell a finished painting, click on it and select "Sell on Pocket Market". A confirmation menu appears where you can set your asking price. The Pocket Market instantly pays you the listed amount and removes the painting from your inventory.
Pocket Market sell prices are approximately double the base value of the painting, so a Perfect-quality piece can sell for 6,000 Meow or more. At Level 10, dedicated painters can earn upward of 80,000 Meow in a single in-game week, making Art one of the most lucrative skills for income generation.
If a painting does not sell immediately, you can lower the price to increase the chances of a buyer picking it up. Paintings listed on business lots may sell for reduced prices (roughly half their base value), so selling from a residential lot is generally more profitable.
Rather than selling every painting, many players choose to display their best works at home. Finished paintings can be hung on any wall using Build Mode. Displayed art improves room decor scores and can trigger the "Appreciating Art" interaction when other Zois visit, giving them a positive mood boost and a small Art skill gain.
You can also display paintings in businesses your Zoi owns, though paintings placed on business property sell at a discount if listed on the Pocket Market.
The Narim Art Gallery is a community lot located in the center of Dowon. Zois can visit the gallery to view exhibited artworks, which triggers the "Appreciate Art" interaction and provides a small Art skill boost along with a positive mood buff. The gallery is a useful destination for Zois who want to develop their Art skill passively without purchasing an easel.
Mural Spaces can also be found near the gallery district. One notable spot is the red brick wall near Sanded Villa in Dowon, where your Zoi can paint a public mural visible to other characters walking by.
Buy an easel as early as possible. Even low-level paintings sell for enough Meow to recoup the easel's cost within a few pieces.
Keep your Zoi's mood high before painting sessions. Comfort and happiness influence the likelihood of producing higher-quality works.
The Great Painter ambition specifically requires paintings made on an easel, so doodling and mural work do not count toward that goal. Plan your training accordingly.
At Level 10, focus on Abstract Art or Surrealism for the highest sale prices. A single Perfect-quality Large piece can sell for over 6,000 Meow.
Visit the Narim Art Gallery in Dowon for a passive skill boost if you are between painting sessions or waiting for your Zoi's energy to recover.
Mural and street art spaces are great for socializing while skilling. Other Zois often stop to watch and may initiate conversation.
