Focus Stones are magical artifacts used in the Water Mages' plan to bring down the Barrier. In Chapter 3, Saturas sends the Hero to recover four stones from sites across the Valley of Mines.
Why They Matter
The Water Mages' plan. Saturas needs the Focus Stones for the attempt to bring down the Barrier using the New Camp ore pile.
Faction-agnostic. Every camp has an interest in the stones, which is why the artifact hunt pulls in members of the Fire Circle, the Water Mages, and the Brotherhood of the Sleeper.
Saturas's direction. The Water Mage sends the Hero to the Fogtower, where the Four Friends provide a map of the four remaining sites.
Where They Are
The stones are distributed across the Valley of Mines in ruins, mines, and orc-held sites. The quests that send the Hero after each stone are covered on Main Quests; the arc is part of the preserved story the developers said they would keep intact.
Relation to the Barrier
The Water Mages collect the stones as part of their plan to destroy the Barrier. After the four expeditions, Saturas seeks the Fire Mages' help in Flames to the Flood.
The Focus Stones Quest
The Water Mages send the Hero to recover the Focus Stones from four sites across the valley, starting from the Fogtower lighthouse where the Four Friends are waiting. The most efficient route is the Fogtower to the Monastery Ruins, then the Troll Canyon, then the Stone Circle, and finally the Mountain Fortress.

Each stone returned to Saturas awards roughly 3,500 experience, and finishing the arc pays out around 300 ore nuggets plus a bundle of healing and mana potions. The quest opens right after The Water Mages' Plan.

At the Fogtower, the faction companion provides the Focus map. In the map menu, enable Saturas Map of the Focus Stones in the Notes list to display the star whose points mark the sites. The four expeditions can be completed in any order.
After returning all four stones, claim 300 ore nuggets from Cronos and the potion reward from Riordan: two Extracts of Healing, two Extracts of Magic Energy, one Elixir of Healing, one Elixir of Magic Energy, one Essence of Life, and one Essence of Spirit.
