Killing Edge

Replaced two unsourced cross-series comparisons about the Curse field with what the published material actually states
The Killing Edge is a C-rank sword in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. It is one of only six weapons in the game with a near-complete published stat line, it grants the Deadly Blade combat art, and its 40 Uses are the highest durability figure published for any weapon in the roster.
Field | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Sword |
Weapon rank | C |
Might | 11 |
Weight | 6 |
Hit | 90 |
Critical rate | 0 |
Curse | Field left empty |
Range | 1 |
Uses | 40 |
Worth | Not published |
Combat art | Deadly Blade |
Curse is a stat field sitting between critical rate and range on every weapon line, and no published material explains what it governs. The Killing Edge leaves it empty, which is not the same as a zero: only one documented weapon, the sword Veroquine, carries a published Curse value at all. Weapons covers the full stat schema.
Five swords carry enough published numbers to compare directly.
Sword | Rank | Might | Weight | Hit | Uses |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Wooden Sword | E | 2 | 2 | 90 | 10 |
Bronze Sword | E | 4 | 3 | 90 | 15 |
Iron Sword | D | 9 | 4 | 90 | 20 |
Killing Edge | C | 11 | 6 | 90 | 40 |
Veroquine | Not published | 13 | 12 | 60 | 30 |
Against the Iron Sword one rank below it, the Killing Edge adds 2 Might for 2 more Weight and keeps the same 90 Hit, then doubles the durability. That last figure matters more than it looks. Uses drain only when a unit performs a combat art, so 40 Uses is a budget for Deadly Blade rather than a maintenance figure, and it buys roughly twice as many arts as anything else on the sword list.
Veroquine is the only sword with a higher Might, and it pays for it with 12 Weight, 60 Hit and a reported requirement of two proficiencies at once.
Every weapon entry published for this game so far reads a critical rate of 0, and the Killing Edge is no exception. Whether that column holds unfinished pre-launch data or a real value has not been stated. Nothing published for this game gives the sword a built-in critical bonus, so what it actually offers is the combat art, not a passive crit boost. Critical figures quoted for a weapon of this name anywhere else belong to other titles.
Deadly Blade is the combat art the Killing Edge grants, and it becomes available once the sword is equipped. Its effect has not been published for this game, and no durability cost has been shown for it. The Japanese description names the art 必殺剣.
Combat arts are the stronger attacks that spend a weapon's Uses, while ordinary swings cost nothing. Arts can be enhanced separately using a material called the Magic Resonance Stone, looted from defeated enemies. Combat Arts covers the system and the full list of named arts, and Blaze Arts covers the separate system the four Heroes use, which spends health instead of durability.
The English help text calls it a sharp sword crafted with eastern techniques and notes that it allows the use of the Deadly Blade combat art. The Japanese line says the same thing. That is the only origin the game attaches to the blade: no smith, region or previous owner is named for it in published material. The setting does have an eastern land, Sai, mentioned in one character profile, but nothing published connects the sword to it.
Weapons are bought at the shopping arcade in Dagsion, where a blacksmith stall also upgrades gear already in the inventory using materials gathered out on the world map, mostly from the dungeons covered on Dungeons and Clashes. Forge levels are written as a plus and a number after the weapon name and run to at least +2. No forge line has been published for the Killing Edge, and no purchase price has been shown for it either. Iron Bow is currently the only weapon with published forge figures.
Reaching C rank in swords is the gate on carrying it. Ranks rise through use in battle and through training at the arena plaza between matches, which Between-Match Preparation covers.
Deadly Blade, the combat art it grants, is listed with the rest on Combat Arts. The full stat schema, including the Curse field it leaves empty, is on Weapons. For the legendary weapons that sit outside that schema, see Hero's Relics.
