Centurio is a character in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, a knight serving the temple of Aurora in Dagsion. He belongs to the Vulcans, an elite unit whose members are chosen from among the temple priests, and he is an old friend of Castor, the father of Cai. It is Centurio who arrives in the village of Ribeira on Cai's fifteenth birthday to take Castor into custody.

Profile

Role in the Story

Centurio and Castor served as Vulcans together and trust each other deeply, which makes the errand he is handed an ugly one. He knocks at the door in Ribeira, finds the son rather than the father, remarks that the boy looks just like his mother, and leaves a single word to pass on: tomorrow. The arrest follows, and Castor is taken to a prison beneath the capital.

His feelings about what happens next are not simple either. Speaking to Cai after the boy qualifies for the Heroic Games, he offers congratulations and admits in the same breath that he feels somewhat conflicted about it.

Combat Role

His profile describes a wall of a unit. A half-hearted attack bounces off him without a scratch, and he answers it by turning the tables on whoever threw it. Pre-release footage puts him on a fog-of-war jungle map as a guest unit fighting beside Cai, Tialla, Peter, Ultand and Guzran, where an enemy-phase attack triggers a damage-reduction skill and a personal skill recorded as Sturdy Corundum.

He gains no experience in that battle, which is normal for a guest unit. Whether he can be recruited as a permanent member of a party has not been confirmed; every appearance so far has him fighting as an allied guest rather than a unit the player owns. Personality

He likes his duties at the temple and he likes patrolling. Board games and classroom study also turn up among his interests.

Notes

The English name is the Latin word for the officer who commanded a unit of roughly a hundred soldiers in the Roman army. His Japanese profile gives him the epithet 鋼玉, rendered as Corundum, and it is the source of his personal skill name.
