Saramis, styled the Kingdom of Saramis, sits at the southern end of the continent of Dagda and is a vassal of the Dagdan Empire. Its capital is Megaira, and during Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave it is ruled by Queen Theodora. Of the empire's three vassal kingdoms it is the one with the most published culture of its own.
Faith
Saraminians worship the Keeper of Death and Night, whom Nintendo's narration calls a goddess loathed throughout the lands. Other material names her Yu Phas and places the core of her faith here, with most Dagdans elsewhere fearing her. Restoring her honour, and defending her people's right to hold that faith, is part of why Theodora enters the Heroic Games at all.
The Writing Taboo
The use of writing is forbidden in Saramis, and its history survives by oral tradition instead. That puts the burden on individuals: Bonaventure, the veteran strategist who serves as Theodora's right hand, has memorised the kingdom's history and its accumulated wisdom because there is no written record to consult. The ban is described as coming out of the goddess's teachings.
The Throne
Any monarch of Saramis must be able to wield the Monarch's Axe. Theodora came to the throne after the death of the previous king, Sergio, who was assassinated; he had named her his successor even though she was the younger of his children. Her older brother Dyan is named as a conspirator in that plot.
Saramis and Mosa
Saramis shares a long and bloody history with Mosa, the country to its south that sits outside imperial rule, and Theodora has said her reign will see an end to that conflict. What she would actually ask for as her wish is less settled: accounts differ over which territory she intends to take and where she means to raise a temple to her goddess, so the specifics are best left open ahead of launch.
