The Nightling Update
August 6, 2026 at 04:51 PM
Added an After Launch section covering the three follow-up patches and the stated plan for the weeks after the update
The Nightling Update, also called the Nightling Invasion, is Farever's first Major Update. It released on the live servers on July 15, 2026 as version 0.2.0.28315, after a preview period that ran on a public test branch from June 23. The update opens a new front in the war for Siagarta: demons pour in from another world through the Rifts, a new fortress city called Ramburg becomes explorable, and the level cap rises so that Farseekers can grow past the launch ceiling.
Feature | What It Adds |
|---|---|
A recurring demon-invasion world event in Skover Island and the Valley of Eternal Autumn. | |
The city of the Crimson Rams, a new region with two instances and its own boss. | |
A merchant who trades Rift rewards for demonic gear, weapons, upgrades, mounts, and companions. | |
Level cap 25 | The cap rises from 20 to 25, and dungeon hard mode is re-tuned to level 25. |
New weapons | Martyr of Enripit and the Censer of the Wool Hollow from instances, plus demonic weapons from the Demon Hunter. |
Collectibles and recipes | Over fifty new collectibles and new crafting recipes for every profession. |
Quality of life | Hide your helmet or any equipment piece, and a spectator camera if you fall during a boss fight. |
Performance | Broad optimization work, reduced visual effects from other players, and DLSS support. |
Every hour, a Rift tears open somewhere in Skover Island or the Valley of Eternal Autumn. A group of up to a dozen players steps inside to fight the demons spilling from its gates and to close those gates before the Rift's boss arrives. The more gates a group closes, the better the reward. Closing them earns a unique currency spent with the Demon Hunter.
The stronghold of the Crimson Rams opens as a full region. Players climb through the Lower City, uncover the Cathedral and its secrets, and face the region's master, High Inquisitor Chakram. Ramburg holds two instances: the Crimson Barracks dungeon and the boss fight against High Inquisitor Chakram. See Ramburg for the region's layout.
Two unique weapons, the Martyr of Enripit and the Censer of the Wool Hollow, can be claimed in the update's instances. A separate line of demonic weapons, along with unique gear sets, spark crystals, and demonic upgrades, is sold by the Demon Hunter for Rift currency. For how weapons feed a build, see Weapons and the Arsenal.
The level cap rises from 20 to 25, and the hard mode for existing dungeons has been adjusted to match. The update also carries a large balance pass across classes and weapons. For how leveling works, see Attributes and Progression.
You can now hide your helmet or any other piece of equipment for a cleaner look, and a spectator camera lets you keep watching a boss fight after your character falls. On the technical side, the update reduces the visual effects other players project, adds DLSS as an option on supported hardware, and continues client and server optimization.
The update did not land finished. Three patches followed inside two weeks, and they changed how some of the new content actually plays.
Patch | Date | What Changed |
|---|---|---|
v0.2.1.28382 | July 16, 2026 | Both Rift bosses had their health tied to the number of participants, Rift timers began announcing in chat from anywhere in an explored region, and the parts of Crimson Dip that still read as inaccessible were opened |
v0.2.2.28417 | July 17, 2026 | Rift entry now closes once an event begins, boss drops were fixed to always come in at Rare or better, and High Inquisitor Chakram was tuned down after proving harder than intended |
v0.2.3.28751 | July 29, 2026 | Quality-of-life pass: a prompt for choosing an Arsenal weapon skill at level 20, a new Training Manual interface, extra oxygen spots in the Abyss of New Atlaan, and weapon base attacks rescaled onto each weapon's own primary attributes |
The developers said the weeks after the update would go to hotfixes before the next content update, with more difficulty coming to the existing dungeons and a Heroic mode planned for later in the year.
