Named her Hero Quest as Spirit of the Mistflower Village from the 1.0.10 notes, added the second fix to it, and moved the Related list to the end of the page
Kalien is a playable Hero in DragonSword: Awakening and the first Hero individually introduced by Hound13, in April 2026, ahead of the July 2026 launch. She is a Spiritist of the Red Fox Mercenary Corps and fights in partnership with a fox spirit named Sur.

Kalien's kit centres on controlling a target with Stun while Sur's fire damage chains underneath. In the language of the wider combo system, Kalien's role is to stack the Stun Status Ailment on a target through her Active Skills, then either finish with her own Signal Skill or switch out so an ally can chain a Signal Skill off the primed Stun window. Because Stun locks the target in place, she is a strong opener and anchor for combo chains that need a reliable setup.
Hound13's own description of her style is that Kalien possesses a powerful combat style that utilises flame attacks and the Stun Status Ailment.
Sur is a fox spirit imbued with the power of fire. The pairing of a Spiritist with a bound spirit gives Kalien a two-layer attack pattern: flame projectiles and sustained fire hits from Sur, combined with Kalien's own direct combat. Sur is the first Familiar to have been individually named by Hound13 and shows how the Familiars system doubles as both a lore companion and a combat partner, beyond the rideable mount function.
Kalien is travelling across the Continent of Orbis with her companion Dana. They are searching for Dana's mother, who is also Kalien's own dear friend. The Red Fox Mercenary Corps affiliation gives her a base of operations and a reason to take paid work that moves her across the continent while the search continues. Her introduction was delivered in Hound13's April 2026 Kalien Hero Trailer, posted to the Steam store alongside the game's store-page opening.
Kalien was the first of several Heroes individually revealed ahead of the July 2026 launch. As of May 2026, the publicly named cast also included:
Theresia - the Heretic Inquisitor of the Organa Order, who carries Bleed and Stun.
Lute - the protagonist, with greatsword and the Stun and Down ailments.
Castella - the Elf assault vanguard with Break and Stun.
Aria - the firepower specialist of Lute's mercenary band, with Burn and Airborne.
Of those, Kalien is the only Hero confirmed to share Stun as her primary ailment with multiple other Heroes; the wider Status Ailments article tracks the overlap.
Kalien shipped with a Hero Quest of her own, Spirit of the Mistflower Village, named in the notes for patch 1.0.10. Hound13 fixed a fault in it shortly after release where the quest could be advanced through an Orbis Castle character rather than the intended route, and 1.0.10 cleared a second fault where Abaddon, Wraith of Destruction appeared on completing one of its steps. Her costume is the one launch cosmetic that is not sold: rather than appearing on the store alongside the other five, it is hidden in a secret location for players to find.
