Role and Authority
Theresia carries one of the highest mandates anyone in the world of DragonSword: Awakening can hold. She is one of only ten Heretic Inquisitors of the Organa Order, and her authority is summary: she may execute anyone deemed a heretic on sight, in any region, without further sanction. The Order frames this as a religious-judicial role rather than a mercenary one. To this day, she patrols every region of Orbis to root out forces that threaten the continent.
Where Kalien carries her cross-continental story under the contracts of the Red Fox Mercenary Corps, Theresia answers to the Order itself. Her presence on a battlefield is meant to be read as a verdict rather than a job.
Combat
Theresia is built as a heavy melee bruiser. Her primary weapons are twin sacred maces. Hound13's framing on the Theresia Hero Trailer describes her combat as a spectacular style that utilises Bleed and Stun. In the language of the wider combat loop, that means her job in a combo chain is to apply both ailments through her Active Skills, lock the target down with Stun, and continue piling on Bleed damage while the chain extends.
Because she carries two ailments rather than one, her kit is unusually flexible at the setup step. A team that switches to Theresia mid-combo can keep an existing Stun rolling while layering Bleed underneath it, then either close the chain with her own Signal Skill or hand off to another Hero through the Switching Signals system to land a payoff against a target that is now compounding two debuffs simultaneously.
Combat Loop Snapshot
Combo Step | Theresia's Tools | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
Apply | Mace strikes and ailment-specific moves | Bleed and Stun stack on the target. |
Extend | Active Skills used while ailments are still up | Combo window stays open while Bleed continues to tick. |
Finish | Signal Skill from Theresia or a teammate via Switching Signals | Biggest single-hit damage of the chain. |
The Organa Order
The Organa Order is the religious institution that fields Theresia and the rest of the Heretic Inquisitors. Hound13 has confirmed publicly that Theresia is one of ten such Inquisitors, which makes the role both rare and structural: ten people split the responsibility of policing heresy across the entire Continent of Orbis. The Order's broader doctrine, leadership, and other Inquisitors have not been individually detailed yet. See the dedicated Organa Order page for the faction-level write-up.
Story Role
Theresia's role in the main story has not been fully detailed, but her premise gives Hound13 several natural threads. As a Heretic Inquisitor, she stands apart from the mercenary band that Lute, Johnny, Castella, and Aria fall into; her loyalty is to the Order rather than to a paying client. Whether she crosses paths with the protagonists as an ally, an enforcer, or both has not been confirmed in pre-launch material.
What is established is that her patrol routes cover every region of Orbis. That puts her on a collision course with the modern Dragon threat at the heart of the game by default, since whatever else the Order is asked to suppress, the Dragon is in every region too.
Position in the Roster
Theresia is one of nineteen playable Heroes available from the start. Under the Buy-to-Play Model of the Western Steam release, she is unlocked through story progression and in-game activities rather than through any gacha pull or extra purchase. Like every other Hero, she carries her own kit of Active Skills and a Signal Skill tied to her ailments.
Compared with the other named Heroes, her role is closest to a heavy melee enforcer:
Hero | Faction | Status Ailments | Combat Niche |
|---|---|---|---|
Theresia | Organa Order (Inquisitor) | Bleed, Stun | Heavy melee bruiser, twin maces. |
Stun (fire) | Ranged-pressure spiritist with the fox spirit Sur. | ||
Mercenary band (Johnny's group) | Stun, Knockdown | All-rounder with greatsword and Goddess-power healing. | |
Castella | Mercenary band (Johnny's group) | Break, Stun | Assault vanguard. |
Aria | Mercenary band (Johnny's group) | Fire, Airborne | Ranged firepower specialist with bombs. |
Mace Detail
Hound13's official description gives Theresia twin sacred maces; some community summaries call her a flail-wielder, but the studio's own captioning consistently uses sacred maces. Treat the maces as canonical: they are the weapon class shown in the Theresia Hero Trailer and the kit that ships with the Steam release.
