Familiars

Familiars are collectible companions in DragonSword: Awakening. Hound13 has described them as 'trusty allies and adorable collectible companions' that aid the Hero on their journey across the Continent of Orbis, and they also serve as mounts.

Role

• Provide combat support on the world map and in fights.

• Act as mounts for traversal once collected.

• Collectibility is a gameplay hook; the player is meant to want to collect more of them.

Monetisation

Under Hound13's published post-launch plan, new character costumes and Familiars sit on the store side of the game. See Buy-to-Play Model for how that fits into the Western release's buy-to-play framing.
