Witch's Workshops

Each of the four main witches in Crimson Desert maintains a personal workshop where she sells a unique selection of Abyss Gear blueprints, alchemy formulas, consumables, and crafting materials. Because every witch stocks different items, players who want access to the full range of gear options must visit all four locations rather than relying on a single vendor.
Workshop inventory is distinct per witch. The most important difference is in the Gear Blueprints each witch carries: offensive blueprints like Destruction and Insight are sold only at Areciel's workshop, defensive blueprints like Fortification, Aegis, and Fortitude come exclusively from Lyselia, and utility blueprints covering Vigor, Vitality, and Composure are available only at Elowen. Alchemy formulas are split between Areciel (Greater Elixirs) and Elowen (Lesser Elixirs). All four workshops also sell Faded Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Artifacts, which are the primary resources for investing and resetting skill points.
For full details on finding each witch, unlocking her workshop, and completing her Sanctum quests, see Witch Locations and Witches of Pywel.

Areciel, the Witch of Strength, operates a workshop on a cliff-side building northwest of the World's Navel landmark near Urdavah in the Tashkalp territory. She is the last main witch to become accessible, appearing at her home only after all other witches' Sanctum quests have been completed. Her shop focuses on offensive Abyss Gear blueprints and high-tier elixirs not found at any other workshop.
Areciel also sells the Kuku Communicative Pack Blueprint, a high-cost item useful for players who want to summon a traveling merchant from any location. The Eternal Darkness item is another exclusive, sold here for crafting high-end gear.

Elowen, the Witch of Wisdom, has her workshop in The Witchwoods west of Hernand. She is the first advanced witch most players unlock through the main story during Chapter 5, and her shop is the most comprehensive among the four for general use. An alchemy cauldron inside her house and a fast travel point right at her door make her the preferred crafting hub in the Hernand region.
Elowen's blueprint selection covers utility-type Abyss Gears: Vigor (stamina regeneration), Vitality (health regeneration), and Composure (spirit regeneration). She also carries the Lesser versions of the Apollonia and Freya elixir formulas, making her the best starting point for building up an alchemy stock early in the game. Her shop also sells alchemy materials such as Amaranth and Wild Ginseng.

Lyselia, the Witch of Humility, keeps her workshop inside a hidden cave in the Serpent Marsh, south of Demeniss. The entrance is in the side of a mountain on its southeastern face, and colorful flags inside the cave mark the path to her location. She is unlocked by first helping a disguised figure hanging from a broken bridge in Bayon on the northeastern side of the Beighen area.
Lyselia's shop specializes in defensive Abyss Gear blueprints. Her three blueprints, Fortification, Aegis, and Fortitude, are the primary source of defense and guard-stamina improvements for tank and shield builds. None of these blueprints are available at any other witch's workshop. She also sells two accessories: the Engraved Silver Necklace and Copper Necklace, both of which provide stat bonuses useful for defensive and crit-rate builds.

Melvina is the fourth witch with a workshop accessible to players. Her shop carries the Warden of Darkness Gear Blueprint alongside a selection of consumables and crafting materials shared across workshops. The Warden of Darkness is an Abyss Gear that, when equipped on a melee weapon, commands spectral knights to strike nearby enemies in an area-of-effect blast when a weakened enemy is defeated.
Item | Price (Silver) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
1,200 | Abyss Gear blueprint. Equips on melee weapons. AoE blast on finishing weakened enemies. | |

The table below shows which Gear Blueprints are available from each witch. Because blueprints are exclusive to a single vendor, players who want a specific blueprint must visit the correct workshop. Purchasing every blueprint early provides a significant advantage across all stages of the game.
Blueprint | Witch | Effect | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
Attack power increase | Damage builds, boss fights | ||
Bonus Abyss Gear effect | Offensive builds | ||
Stamina regeneration | Stamina-intensive builds | ||
Health regeneration | Sustained combat survivability | ||
Spirit regeneration | Spirit-dependent skill builds | ||
Defense +3 | Tank builds | ||
Damage reduction 1.0 | Tank builds, damage mitigation | ||
Guard stamina cost -3% | Shield builds, blocking | ||
AoE blast on finishing weakened enemies | Melee, crowd control |
Witch workshops are one of the most reliable sources for alchemy formulas in Crimson Desert. Each formula must be purchased and learned before you can craft the corresponding elixir at any alchemy cauldron. Lesser formulas are significantly cheaper than Greater formulas but produce weaker consumables.

|---|---|---|---|
500 | Lesser | ||

Several items are available from every witch's workshop at identical prices. These are not exclusive to any single witch, so they can be bought from whichever workshop is most convenient at the time.

Every witch's workshop exposes the same Abyss Gear management interface. Players who already own armor or weapons with pre-socketed Abyss Gears use this interface to extract those gears out of their original carriers and re-embed them into a different armor piece or weapon. The service is free of charge, can be repeated as many times as desired, and is the only in-game way to move an Abyss Gear from one item to another.
Common reasons to use the extract and re-embed service:
Moving an Abyss Gear off its original carrier when the carrier armor is otherwise weaker than alternatives the player owns.
Consolidating same-element Abyss Gears onto a single carrier piece so both gears activate together when that piece is worn (see the workflow below).
Rebuilding a loadout after acquiring a new Abyss Gear that fits an existing build better than the current socketing.
Element-swap loadouts where multiple carrier pieces are kept in the inventory, each holding one element's Abyss Gears, and the player swaps between them mid-combat. See Imbue Element for the broader element-swap pattern.
The canonical use of the extract and re-embed service is to consolidate both Abyss Gears of a given element onto a single armor piece. The example uses the fire pair (Volcanic Eruption plus Flames of Judgment) consolidated onto Plate Boot of the Shadows:
Step | Action | Details |
|---|---|---|
Open the Abyss Gear interface, select the source armor (for the fire example, the Scorchflame Plate Gloves), and pull Volcanic Eruption out of its socket. The Abyss Gear lands in the player inventory. | ||
Repeat for the second source. For the fire example, select the Eclipsed Solas Plate Gloves and pull Flames of Judgment out of its socket. Both fire Abyss Gears are now loose in the inventory. | ||
Equip Plate Boot of the Shadows (or another armor piece with the socket budget to host two same-element Abyss Gears). The carrier is the piece the player will wear when running this element. | ||
Embed Volcanic Eruption into the first open Abyss Gear slot on the carrier. | ||
Embed Flames of Judgment into the second open Abyss Gear slot on the carrier. Both fire Abyss Gears now activate together when the carrier is worn. | ||
Repeat the same workflow for the other elements the player runs: a separate carrier holding Shattering Frost plus Frost Hail for frost, another holding Storm Fang plus Orbs of Lightning for lightning, and so on. Each element gets its own carrier piece kept in the inventory for quick swaps. |
Plate Boot of the Shadows is the most-recommended carrier piece for the fire pair because it has the socket budget to host both Volcanic Eruption and Flames of Judgment side by side. The player keeps the original Scorchflame Plate Gloves and Eclipsed Solas Plate Gloves in storage so they can be re-socketed later if desired.
A second pair of boots can hold the frost pair (Shattering Frost plus Frost Hail), and additional pairs can hold other elements. Switching boots through the quick equipment menu rotates the entire elemental loadout in a single action, which lets the player change elements without leaving combat.
All four witches share the same Abyss Gear service. Inventory differs per witch (see the per-witch tables above), but the extract and re-embed function itself is identical at all four workshops. Use whichever witch is closest.
Extraction does not destroy the source armor. After pulling an Abyss Gear out, the source armor remains in the inventory; only the Abyss Gear slot is left empty. The player can later re-embed the same or a different Abyss Gear into that slot.
Re-embedding is repeatable. Trying a new pairing does not lock anything in. The player can return to any witch and rearrange Abyss Gear placements at no cost.
Carrier socket count matters. Not every armor piece can host two Abyss Gears in the same slot type. Check a piece's available socket count before committing it to a same-element pair.
Buy all blueprints immediately. When you first visit a new witch, purchase every blueprint she carries. Blueprints are one-time purchases and learning them costs no additional silver. Owning them early means you can start crafting the corresponding Abyss Gears as soon as you gather the required materials.
Purchase Lesser Elixir formulas before Greater versions. Elowen's Lesser Elixir formulas at 500 silver each are a much cheaper entry point than Areciel's Greater versions at 2,000 silver each. Learn the Lesser formulas first and upgrade your stock as needed.
Faded Abyss Artifacts are valuable for respeccing. At 285 silver each, witch workshops are the cheapest reliable source of Faded Abyss Artifacts. Stock up whenever you visit a workshop rather than farming them from enemies.
Elowen is the best routine crafting hub. Her workshop in The Witchwoods has an alchemy cauldron and a fast travel point right at the door, making it the most convenient location for regular workshop visits, extraction, and alchemy crafting.
Areciel requires completing other witches' Sanctums first. She will not appear at her cliff-side home until all Sanctum quests for Elowen, Bari, and Lyselia have been completed. Plan your Sanctum questline accordingly if you want access to her exclusive Destruction and Insight blueprints.
Greater Elixir formulas require Areciel and Lyselia. If you need the Greater tier of Apollonia's or Freya's Elixir, only Areciel stocks them. Meliara's Greater Elixir is only at Lyselia. Both witches require extra effort to unlock compared to Elowen.
