Tree of Slumber Puzzle Solution

The Tree of Slumber is the sixth and final Abyss sky island in the Sleet Isles chain. Completing its puzzle unlocks Flame Lv. 1, granting Flame Strike for Kliff, Flame Rush for Damiane, and Flame Quake for Oongka. This also unlocks the Fire element for the Imbue Element system, allowing all weapon attacks to carry fire damage through the Axiom Bracelet.
Reach the Tree of Slumber by completing the Loop of Life, then navigating the rotating cubes parkour section and riding the long floating platform to the teleporter. This is also accessible via an alternate route through Root's End Ruin and the Twisted Thicketway.
After teleporting in, grab the fast travel point immediately. This puzzle involves lava that causes instant death on contact, so the fast travel point is essential.
The central area has a large object in the middle surrounded by lava pools and four outer pillars. The goal is to make all four pillars glow blue by stabbing the central object and rotating it to adjust their heights.
When you stab the central object, your sword enters one of the cardinal points, and you can rotate it left or right. This raises or lowers the surrounding pillars. Each pillar needs to reach a specific position (roughly two-thirds of the way down) until a blue glow appears. The puzzle is solved when all four pillars glow blue simultaneously.
There are consistent reports that the following three-turn sequence solves the puzzle reliably. This is not random, and the same steps work across different save files.
First turn (right side): Face the right side of the central object and stab in. Rotate until the tallest pillar behind you lowers and everything turns blue.
Second turn (opposite side): Run around to the side directly opposite your first turn. Stab in and push the remaining pillars down until the tallest one glows blue. You should see two pillars that are now lowered into the ground.
Third turn (opposite again): Go to the side opposite the second turn. Stab in and rotate to bring the two lowered pillars back up. This final turn activates the remaining pillars.
When all four pillars glow blue, the puzzle is complete. The central pillar rotates, the lava drains, and the activation button appears.
The button is located in the area where the lava was. Do not walk through the lava area until it has fully drained. Use your Axiom grapple from above to grip the button in the center and punch it. Walking directly through any remaining lava patches results in instant death.
After activating the button, jump into the air and glide across to the reward platform. You will receive an Abyss Artifact (skill point) and, more importantly, unlock Flame Lv. 1. A cutscene plays confirming the Flame ability has been acquired.

Flame Lv. 1 also unlocks Fire as an element for Imbue Element, allowing any weapon to deal fire damage through the Axiom Bracelet.
The Abyss island chain continues beyond the Tree of Slumber with additional sky islands. These later islands contain more puzzle challenges and Abyss Artifact rewards, but no additional elemental unlocks. The remaining islands connect to a point in the main story related to the sky.
Lava is instant death. Even a tiny patch in the middle of the arena will kill you instantly. Stay on solid ground until the lava has fully drained.
If you get the pillar rotation wrong, it can take 10+ minutes of trial and error to fix. Follow the exact three-turn sequence above.
Use the Axiom grapple to activate the button from a safe distance rather than walking through the freshly drained lava area.
After unlocking Flame, consider returning to Hernand to pick up the Volcanic Eruption Abyss Gear from the waterfall cave near the Tea of Rivers. This pairs exceptionally well with the new fire abilities.
